As an addendum to the above post; when my middle son comes over this evening, I bought him a 2nd model H.E. S+W in 32-20, circa 1919, a box of vintage Winchester X (the box itself is a great collector's piece) + loaded up 100 rounds of Hornady 100G.s to play with. I dearly love Christmas + the boys (even when they're in their 40s) getting a "new" gun!

Bear Cat, I would recommend the great CZ 22 models... I recall Mod 455. They are very versatile and can be converted with extra barrels from 22LR, to Mag, or even the Hornady 17 HMR. These are full size adult rifles, a good friend, and gunshop owner, shoots Sage Rats at 1000/day with his... they hold up!! I have a Winchester pre-64 22LR, clip fed rifle, I haven't shot for years. I can't remember the model number... if you haven't found one by March, when we get back from Africa, you might be able to talk me out of it??... I'm starting to downsize, and I still have my Dad's Remington 713!! 470EDDY

I've got a Win. 69A, bought it 60 yrs ago. Totally reliable very accurate 1" @ 50 yds. Trigger is adjustable for weight of pull. Shot many squirrels, coons, woodchucks and other critters with it. If you can spare the cash----I would go for it. Hip P.S. Ate the squirrels the next trip to the cabin---Durham, N.Y. and sold a lot of the tails to lure maker MEPPS (helped to pay for ammo)!

Thanks Hip That is what I like about the guns of yesteryear.. quality workmanship and materials. Machined parts , hand fitted together, not stamped out sheet metal and plastic .. Your Win 69A 22 , has left you with many years of memories. Those head shots on squirrels and woodchucks..:-) I gifted the boy , the same , a win 69A 22 LR. A perfect sporting 22 for both young and old . Thanks , Bob DRSS Chapuis 9.3 x 74 R RSM. 416 Rigby RSM 375 H&H
