Hello. I'm about to export a rifle from Norway to my friend in Wyoming. But the cost is so high, that I almost have to sell my car to pay for it. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to do this a cheap as possible, AND legal? I'd be grateful for any tip!! *Treat problems like a dog; Take a sniff ..... I dont know your circumstances, but if it is that expensive, why not get your friend to buy a rifle for you in America and you use it when you go?That is what i have done and it works a treat (Marlin guide gun 45-70)

Arild, I don't know what procedure you have already investigated, or where your costs are running up?? This is an explanation from GunBroker.com on how to legally import a rifle for personal use into the US:
This text came from this page: http://www.gunbroker.com/Support/SupportFAQView.asp?FAQID=1110&NoCount=1 Once the FFL has obtained an import permit, I would assume the Norwegian authorities would need a copy of the US import papers - to verify the "end user" can legally receive the gun. They should/will then issue Norwegian export papers. Exactly which office/ministry/authority will issue such a license, I don't know (varies from country to country). With export and import papers in hand, you should be able to send the rifle to the receiving US FFL - e.g. using FedEx. The procedure described above has worked in at least 3 countries I know of. I'd be very surprised if this would not work for Norway as well. Needless to say, I can't say anything about costs on the Norvegian side. US costs should be limited, and shipping might cost you, say, 1K NOK, or something? - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Sorry! I didnt tell.... All the papers in the USA and in Norway is ok. We have all that sorted out. This is a new Norwegian made (Kongsberg) rifle, whitch I have helped my friend from Wyoming to buy. I believe FedEx dont want to handle firearms. Maybe UPS? Postal service here in Norway dont want to do it either. I have one price, and thats HEAVY! Over 4000,- NOK!! *Treat problems like a dog; Take a sniff ..... If it can't be killed, eaten, or fucked? Just pie on it, and walk on!:-) Arild.
