Does anyone have any bright ideas on fitting a bipod to a Sauer 202? Are there any special adaptors or bipods which fit into the Sauer forend tip? I really do not want to fit a QD stud on my nice forend. Thank you in advance. Regards Brian. Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Hey Brian, I had the same problem, and as yet have not fitted a stud,b bu I htink this is the only way if a Bi-Pod is necessary. My friend has fitted a stud onto his 243/270 Sauer and raves about it. He then just fits a Harris type bipod and off he goes. I can't make my mind up still although I am quite happy to shoot from a stick or try and get closer. The Bi-pod on my Sako 243 is great for long range foxes so I have most bases covered. Rgds, FB

CD Not really on the question you posed - have you considered making use of your binos as a swift improvised rest for prone shots. No marred foreend and nothing extra to carry. I have Butler Creek scope covers on the objective lenses of the glasses - so no problems with muck on the lenses - and that wonderful drifting mist doesnt leave you with obscured view when most needed. As 95% of my shots are taken sitting with light weight crossed sticks, I'm a little wary of bipods. Losing the biggest Red I have ever seen, while mucking around with a bipod probably contributes to that! Another option - I thnk I have seen QD studs that plug into cups set into the stock. Could allow you to remove the bipod AND stud for those days when you want to admire the lines of the stock! rgds Ian Just taking my rifle for a walk!........

Thought I had seen something that might work: http://www.millettsights.com/open.html Under sling swivels - they do a flush mount and a harris bipod adapter. Download the pdf file for a closer look. Now, whether the design of the Sauer fore end is strong enough to take the pressure applied by a shooter leaning into the bipod - I'm not so sure! Good Luck. Why not asking the Q to Sauer via their website ? André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

Agreed I used to hate the darned things but started carrying one on my Sako 243 as it was a cheap way of adding weight to it (too light to aim steadily for me) a bit like other addictions it only took one time and I was hooked. They have their uses in spring crops where you need to get up to about a foot or so prone. Generaly I use my roe sac in the winter and crossed sticks once the crops are away but in spring a bipod is great. Have a look on the versapod website at their various attachments.

Thank you guys. I will look into the web sites mentioned. I have a bipod which was on a previous rifle. however, I find it no use at all for my normal stalking here in NI. I am quite happy shooting sitting or standing with a pair of sticks. I like a small backpack to shoot over when prone. The only place I have ever used a bipod in anger is Scotland. I am going to Dumfrieshire in June and the stalker suggested a bipod as the ground is pretty open and shots are longish. Regards Brian. PS NEver tried shooting over the binos, I suppose the rubber eye guards should help a bit. Must try that... Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....
