Pat...... Or inversely NON-Users of this scope. I don't own this particular S&B scope although I have evaluated it seriously in the past. It always gets the pass for one reason alone, EYE RELIEF on this scope is too critical IMHO. Cheers, Number 10

is the eye relief more critical than other S&B's? I have had a 1.5-6x42 and didnt think it was overly critical.. is the eye relief long, it says 90mm

Patriot, Myself and my brother have nothing but S&B 'scopes on our rifles. We each have one of the models you're interested in. Additionally, my brother has two illuminated versions and he also has a 50mm model. In my opinion I would not hesitate to get one especially if you intend to put it on a more powerful rifle as they offer the longest eye relief of any 'scope I'm aware of. I very rarely get magnum eyebrow since I fitted mine. Also, I would say they are bomb proof judging from one experience we've had. One of my brother's once fell onto a bare concrete floor from a height of about six feet whilst mounted on a rifle. There was no damage to the 'scope and it held zero. In a nutshell - get one. I have had this scope on my 30-06 for many years and it has fallen, has been knocked hard, has been exposed to heat, cold, a lot of rain but is still cristal clear and totally reliable. To me it is still worth every penny I paid for it.
