Can anyone here give me any information regarding the possibilities for hunting ibex and chamois in Europe? Chamois is possible in Itlay, but you must attent a course lasting a few months for "abilitation" then apply for a "non resident" authorization. The question of residence is referred to the fact that hunting in Italy is alloted to provincial residents,(each major city has its' own province) and residents of other provinces have next to no chance of ever beeing granted a hunt in the alpine sectors. To add to this there are no outfitters that I know of. How would one go about it as a foreigner in other neihburing countries?

@EXPRESS In our canton we do have the possibility to hunt ibex. I did it in 1998 and I got the goat and the buck. It is very hard to get the goat. Because of our hunting regulations we have to get the goat first, before we can take the buck. Now I have to wait another 5 years (2008) to get the license for the next ibex. Normally our hunting season is during the month of September. I buy my license and then I can get different types of animals. The roe deer, the red stack, the mountain chamois and some marmots are free. The license costs me approx. 500 US$. There is an outfitter in Germany, which offers some hunts in Switzerland. Probably this link could helps you: http://www.bavaria-jagdreisen.de/start.html#schweiz/schweiz.html Sorry, only in German. They are offering hunting trips for ibex and for mountain chamois. And on my homepage I have written my stories about my trophies in Europe. Just click on this link: http://www.collani.ch/Europa-Main-d.htm Good shooting and good hunting Collani http://www.collani.ch/index.html

in Spain you may hunt two different subspecies of chamois one of them in the Pyrenees and the other in the Cantabric mountains the latter being the smaller. you may also hunt 3 different subspecies of Spanish Ibex in the Gredos mountains, in the puertos de Tortosa y Beceite (northeastern) and in the serrania de Ronda (southeastern). first class outfitting will take 350-450 euro daily rate plus a trophy fee. in chamois the trophy fee could be around 2.000-2300 for the cantabric and 2.300-2.600 for the pyrenaican. ibex trophy fee will vary enormously depending on its quality starting at 3.000-3.300 euros for a representative trophy up to 5.500 for a gold medal, the southeastern species being cheaper. montero

Pete Hunted Turkey a few years back for driven Wild Boar. Fine place - Moslem population - treated the carcasses like something you would scrap off your shoe - but great value for money - and great idea for combination hunt/holiday with the wife. Most hunting areas not a million miles from a really nice coast line. I'd go again! :0) IanF
