I would like to ask all my friends here to take time tomorrow and pause and remember all the men and women of the Armed Forces who have given their lives in service to their Country. Although primarily associated with WW1 and WW2, please do not forget those who gave their lives in the numerous other conflicts since then culminating in todays war zones... "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them".

BTT, let's keep this one up here all day! For my great grandfathers who faught in WWI on both sides German and Allied. For my Grandfather who was born in Germany and fought in WWII in Normandy, North Africa, and Sicily for the US Army. Left the war unscathed, miraculously. For my maternal Grand Father who was born in Texas and fought in the South Pacific as a Marine and was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in the Phillipines. For my father who served in the Army prior to Vietnam, but then spent 35 years as a police officer, and federal agent, leading countless raids against the war on drugs. For my cousin, SFC Harry Bob Coen Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 23rd Infantry Division MIA Cam Duc Airfield Vietnam Missing in Action, possible KIA. And for your fathers, brothers, and yourselves for your eternal vigilence against the war on terror, tyrany, drugs, and the never ending fight for freedom Semper Fortis!

A Poem for Remembrance Day "The inquisitive mind of a child" Why are they selling poppies, Mummy? Selling poppies in town today. The poppies, child, are flowers of love. For the men who marched away. But why have they chosen a poppy, Mummy? Why not a beautiful rose? Because my child, men fought and died In the fields where the poppies grow. But why are the poppies so red, Mummy? Why are the poppies so red? Red is the colour of blood, my child. The blood that our soldiers shed. The heart of the poppy is black, Mummy. Why does it have to be black? Black, my child, is the symbol of grief. For the men who never came back. But why, Mummy are you crying so? Your tears are giving you pain. My tears are my fears for you my child. For the world is forgetting again. Author, Unknown A picture of hope for the future, through the memories of a Soldier, given in legacy to a child. I pray that they too will remember them and their sacrifices in the name of peace. Lynn D

In Flanders' Fields the Poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders' Fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe; To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high, If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though Poppies grow In Flanders' Fields. ----------------------- A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition. - R. Kipling
