Swedish EPA have made a plan to enlarge the genepool of the scandinavian wolfpopulation. Its cost only 90000000 euro the next couple of years.

If I got it right, the "new blood" will be cubs taken from zoo´s ?

And most likely this "new blood" will also benfit the Norwegian population as the wolfs cross the border at will?

First of the big questions is if any of the cubs will survive at all.
The second is if they are going to establish their own packs and spread their genes.
The third is if they are really going to benefit the wolf population in Sweden and Norway at all, even if they manage to spread their genes.

I guess if they do this, there will not be much wolf hunting in Sweden for many years to protect the "new" genes.
This will lead to a very fast growing wolf population in Sweden.
A wolfhuggers dream....

Yes they have tryed to move cubs between zoo wolfes and it worked. The scandinavian wolfes are already related to scaninavian zoowolfes sence they let a female into a norwegian zoo and relesed her pregnant.
The new thing is that they are going to move russian zoo cubs to swedish zoos for a later release in the wild. The wolf population has increased 15% a year in the last 15years.
