Hi guys posting here as well as in optics, so tell me has any one of you guys used the;

Schmidt&Bender 4-16x50 Classic with illuminated reticle?

I am after a couple of missed chanses to score a late evening or night fox due to poor night optics contemplating this sight.

Today I use a 4-16x40 Weaver on this particular rifle and I feel seriously underscoped.

It´s all rather amusing my .22 Hornet has better night scope as well as my drilling however they are not to be switched around.

So any and all, chip in with insights and experience.

Best regards Chris

I have a S&B 3-12x50 IR classic. Absolutely excellent low / no light scope.

Would highly recommend the S&B.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Hi Chris, I had a 4-16x50 s&b varmint special which is nearly the same scope. I think the higher end mag is not very useful for your sort of use and would go with clarets suggestion of a 3-12 x50 or even better for low light a 3-12x56. The absolute best scope I have ever used was a 3-12x56 Swarovski (one of the old stell tubed models) and the clarity and light gathering of this was truly astounding. A plain vanilla 8x56 schmidt is also a great low/no light scope. I have had three os these so far.

Cheers

Hi Zaitzev, that is just the scope that I am looking at, it was my own will that gave it an illu reticle, apparently they only make ill reticles up until the 3-12 models.

The reason fo picking a 4-16x50 is that model with a nr 1 reticle and then the BDC aftermarked turret would fit all my needs, I think.

I do shoot at 300 meters+ at the range and for practice, I do hunt upp untill 230 meters or so, I do like to have the same scope all the time, I do hunt at night and at dusk.

Am I that far off in my thinking or should I get the Qr optilocks for my sako instead and just use what I have.

Currently I have a Helia S2 steeltubed 8x56 nr 1
Ziess 1,5-6x42 BDC nr 4
Ziess Davaria 1,5-6x36 nr 11

Perhaps I should try one of them at lowlights to see what they yield.

However do tell me how your scope has worked out for you, Zaitzev?

What kind of application do you use it for?

/Best regards Christian
