Hey B. martins, I know this is really a Deer/Big game room, but I would love to see some photos of your partridge/Hare shoots. I spent 10 years shooting in Cyprus from the start of the nineties. I have to agree that shooting wild red legs, (Chukars is what we actually have in Cyprus) is the best sport anyone can experience. Hare shooting is my favourite though with my Viszla's. it's nothing like the same as here inthe UK, and is more like stalking. We often had to follow a scet trail for a half mile or so before the hare stopped and the dog could point it. then when it flushed it was a grey blur with a little white dot in the middle!! Chapster, Thanks for the info on HS. I'm gonna go to potter guns tomorrow and see if they stock any. I'll let you now what I get. Laters, FB

Roebuck, Here is a strange thing Glenmorangie is my local distillery as well, I bet you even buy stuff from Macleod's. Where are you, roughly you do not have to be too specific, but if you get over to Bonar Bridge way you are getting close to me. I have been busy with ducks and rabbits just now. John

Tomorrow is a big day. Saint Hubertus driven hunt. With my bow, Ill be waiting for boars amidst the dense bush. Please to God the dogs will be restless. Every Year on this place I am stapling one or two pigs. The weather will be frosty but fine and countless wild boars and stags. I have to coach two new bow hunters and we want to get more game than the 50 shooters around. We have to shoot straight but moreover be on top form to sustain the mass and a wonderful restless dinner. Not the moment to be checked driving. Have a nice week-end. Jean

Jay, I have often been in bonar, played (hacked) my way round the golf course a few times!! and drank in the "Lady ross" in Ardgay also. I am from easter ross (Inverg)direction and often buy ammo etc at Macleods...good shop and Gregor the owner knows his stuff. My friend tells me that there is good duck shooting to be had at Meikleferry, dont know if you have tried there. Also can you tell me where you can fish in Bonar for sea trout and salmon,I was told that below the bridge it was ok for anyone...is this true? Good luck with the rabbits...good crack isn't it. Cheers Roebuck

Roebuck, You are right about the ducks although getting to them without offending anybody is a bit tricky. As for the fishing, the Salmon and sea trout fishing in Bonar is excellent, indeed fishers come from all over the UK to fish there. The fishing is controlled by the Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association, and if you want to fish there you need day tickets from them. If you want to fish there next year I can point you in the right direction, it just so happens I am secretary of the angling association. I never tell Gregor he knows his stuff, although he does, he would think that I was ill or something. Mind you I would have thought you see enough water at work. Cheers John
