Do Muntjac cast there antlers at fixed times of the year as do our other British deer or is their antler development more radom like their breeding cycle? Regards, Pete | ||

Hi Pete, I was always under the impression that they cast in the spring and were grown back later towards the end of the summer, so I had a look on a couple of sites. This seems to be the case usually although a bucks first head may last upto 2 years before it is cast. Apparently though the season is not set in stone, so some bucks may sport heads at the "wrong" time of year. FB | |||

Gents, Has anybody come across anything to suggest the antler cycle is less than 12 months ie matches with the does cycle ??? Regards, Pete | |||
