What do you where for boots? I where Danners for everything and hip boots in Alaska. A lot of the hunters I saw on my last Spanish hunt had brogues on!

Meindls in the mountains, those great, light and smooth LL Bean boots for stalking in summer and some warm heavy, Canadian La Crosse in wintertime. Good boots are probably as important as the rifle.

Hey Kokdyer, My choice for the last 15 years or so has been the Ladakh boot from Scarpa. Very easy on the foot, warm, no break in required for me so far, extremely few seams and Gore-Tex makes this my "go everywhere" boot. Regards Georg

Kokdyer, I've used a pair of Meindl ArmyPro: for quite a few years now and have been happy with them. They have thicker leather than most other Meindl boots, so are a bit stiff depending on what one wants. Now that they are as old and worn as they are, I usually use a pair of Berghaus gaiters if I know I'm going to be plodding thru lots of marsh areas: These just about completely seal the boot from the bottom, and make wading thru knee high streams a pleasure. I recently bought a pair of Lundhags Proffesional(in all black): The bottom is made from "Certech" (lined with leather on the inside) and is thus waterproof. Lundhags will make you a pair with the choice of 3 differant widths. I have wide feet, so I got them to make me a pair with the widest after sending them a scetch of my feet. They fit perfectly. I haven't had the chance to use them much yet, but so far I'm very pleased. I do know a lot of guys in the military here who use these, and are very happy with them.

kokdyer, I have a similar pair of Meindl boots to Eriks, but mine has a "plastic" protective toe cap over the leather which seems to work ok. To be honest although they fit like slippers, I don't wear them that much as I am not keen on vibram soles for woodland stalking...I tend to keep these boots for winter use or up on the open hill. My favourite boots at the moment are a pair of Aigle goretex line leather/cordura boots which are about the same height as the meindl's but lighter and with a slightly softer sole. They too are very comfy and have held up really well for the last 3 years...plus at £80, they were reasonable cheap too. I also have some knee high wellies or rubber boots, which I use if the ground is very wet, but they don't give the ankle support of the other boots. Regards, Pete

I use german army boots. Cheap, comfortable and waterproof. With different socks, I can wear them from -10°C to 35°C.

I have a pair of lightweight Scarpa ankle boots that I wear for Summertime stalking, I have had these for about ten years and they are like a second skin with gaiters in the wet they are great. For winter stalking I got a pair of Le Chameau Mouflon's last year. They were a bit on the stiff side to start with but have softened into a comfortable boot. They keep me warm and dry all day in all conditions. Like Pete said wellies also get an outing in the wet, but, their is no ankle support and I need all the support I can get nowadays John
