More than paying the deposit, when the plane tickets get bought I get excited.

Fallow Deer with Klems in Austria. I am bringing my Win Model 70 Supergrade in 270 with 140 grain Accubonds. I have never killed anything with a caliber that small. Ok, I did use a 7mm/08 once. I also do not have bags as immense as most here. I hope I have enough gun and bullet; joke.

This is the area and outfitter I shot my boar with in 2014. After killing my boar in 2014, we went kicking around the foothills and walked into a fallow that at first I thought it was a red deer. He was that big. My wife got some low quality cell phone picks. I look at the once a week. Sadly, and not so sadly I watched him and let him go off to do what it is rutting fallow do. I told myself that is a good excuse to come back.

The area is about an hour and a half south of Vienna. What I love about Austria is when as soon as you drive out of the city limits you see deer stands all over the place. I have missed it. We will be staying in a ski town, will have time to take a train into the Alps, and a few nights in Vennia. The hotel in Vienna has the best rack of lamb I have ever had.

All I got to do is make it to March 6, 2017.

Meisenbach is a fun hunt. I saw some really nice fallow deer when I was there a few years ago. Good luck and enjoy the schnitzel!

Waidmansheil, there are tons of good gunshops in Austria.

I am sure you will have a wonderful time. I didn't have a jagdschein until a week ago, and have been caught with my pants down. Hopefully I'll have things sorted in time for some late season drive hunts.

Air France requires you to declare the rifle coming and going when you make your plane ticket reservations. This approval shows up with your tickets. They also require that you bring a Declaration Form that you show at the airport. This is called the Firearms Deceleration Form PDF 30.41.

The issue the PDF will not load through AirFrance's portal. Even the folks at AirFrance cannot get it to load. I have an old blank one from when I did this 2 years ago. That I am going to make copies of and use one on this trip, but no one can tell me at AirFrance if it is the current form.

No one at AirFrance seems to be to upset by this , because my reservations show the rifle is approved. But of all things, they cannot access there own Form.

I will talk at y'uns in one week. Everything is loaded and now just have to live until morning.

Shot two small meat pigs out of a wallow. They look like smaller bush pigs. I am flying home in the morning. Great trip.
