Hi I have been offered a really nice rifle

Pfeifer SR2 in walnut

I know I must not buy anymore guns but it is so diferent and attractive.

So If anybody has any experience with it please post something...

Anybody notice recently this forum has gone a bit limp?

I am thinking of a 6.5 caliber for stalking purposes and mountain hunting.

Thanks

Ben, you have too much time on your hands!

The only bullpup type design I have handled/fired were in 223 calibre. I never got used to the balance, though guys I know who used these rifles long term got to like them a lot.

I don't think I would want to bring the muzzle blast of a deer legal calibre that close to my face.

You are better off spending the money on a .243 stutzen barrel for your K95... BOOM

Hi Bilbo

I know you are right but just wanted to hear from somebody who has used one.

There is for for sale in a 6mmBR !

You know that's my favourite caliber ...........

I finally got Blaser to agree to make me a barrel for the K95 in 6mmBR but they wanted nearly £1300 plus VAT

What shall I do with 600 BR cases ?

Thank you for your advice.

I did ask for anybody who has any actual experience with it to post something.

Since I posted the thread a few weeks ago:
I flew over to the factory on a day trip

Shot one
Handled one
and bought one

All I can say is -

Well balanced rifle rear bias like a Perazzi
Handles like a dream
Totally unconventional

Exactly what I wanted in a stalking rifle.

200 meters>3.2cm group from a bench
100 meters>1.0cm group from a bench

Sorry to differ from your personal experience

Nonetheless thanks for posting.

By the way who is Peter Lawman?

Ben spill the beans in general on this one.

I can see how that little rifle might work well up a highseat. How does it handle off sticks?

By the way, someone fitted the trigger back to front.. Big Grin

You are as resolute as always in the face of temptation.....

In the picture of the rifle isn't the trigger the wrong way round (or am I showing just how little I know about rifles?!) ?

CHEEKY F****R

You asked for actual experience and i gave it - i picked it up, handled it, part stripped it and mounted it.

By all means come to your own opinion, but save the sarcasm when the opinions don't concur.

Peter Lawman is a dealer/gunsmith from whom i once sourced another bullpup design - Sommers & Ockenfus.

WOWOW

Sincere appoligies if I have been sacarstic in any of my postings. It was not meant to be at all.

For all those who know me personally I am not that kind of person. Life is too short for that.

English is not my first language and I have to think in arabic first before I type in English.

Frankly with the americans pounding my cave everyday with RPGs its doing my head in.

I really have no idea who Peter Lawman is until your posting

Bottom line this rifle is really quite special in design and handling other than the price.
Thats why the factory told me in broken english

"It will never be everybody's first choice for a hunting rifle"

Good hunting my friend

At least I hope we have a drink and laugh about this one day.

PS What is a Cheeky F****r in arabic ?

Fair enough - i thought you were being sarcastic. I wasn't aware that english wasn't your first language.

Peter Lawmans is a largish gundealer/gunsmith approx 60miles north of london. you really should pop up there - take plenty of money and be prepared to spend the afternoon at least. He has all manner of 'hard to get' and unusual items.

I did the bullpup thing some years ago but for me it was a Sommers & Ockenfus. I was first attracted to bullpups after the army and L85s but the real prop with a non semi/auto to the amount of re-positioning and body movement between shots - especially if lying prone.
Your rifle unfortunately didn't mount as well as the one i bought - for me at least. Hence my comments.

I was right first time - you are a cheeky Fcker! Roll Eyes

Sorry - my red ground is essentially right above Loch Lomand so don't feel the need to chase off anywhere else. Now if i were tempted to treck somewhere else, i'd get Griff to arrange a week on Arran for me.

Also i'm off putting folks through their range competence cert next weekend.

Thanks for the offer.
