It doesn't matter on the species. Dig just sent me some pictures taken a couple of weeks ago when we managed to grab a couple of hours of pigeon shooting. We got out and managed to scramble down the best part of a hundred pigeons. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and my first time out with a gun for a few months I think.

The birds were decoying well and so apart from a couple of runners I was leaving the dead birds on the stubbles to pick up t the end, and judging from the noise coming from Digs hide he was doing the same.

When time came to pick up we walked out to the main killing area of the pattern and I picked up while sending Fern to get those a bit further away. She was not impressed at having to run 20yds to get a pigeon when there was a prerfectly good one 5 etres away... After about half a dozen retrieves she decided enough was enough, lay down next to the pile of pigeons and gave me the kind of look of defiance that only a spaniel can do.

If there was a caption it would be something along the lines of "You shot them so you can pick them up, call me when you are done!!"

I'll post some of the pictures later.

I remember well the look I would receive from my best brittany when I missed a shot and no bird fell;
I am glad she could not speak.

There is no look that I could give that would even come close to the dueling caterpillers!!! So I just don't bother...

I think we all know who is in charge between Fern and I so I'm not even gonna go there.

I was down at Tony Price's the other day and he has a lovely cocker bitch there that will be ready to go next year. I just don't know if I can put myself through it with a cocker...

Rgds,

Kiri... are you and Mr F. in some kind of collaberation?

He keeps tempting me with puppy pictures, and Spaniel rescue links keep appearing in my Inbox!
Now you start mentioning cockers being ready to go within weeks!

I WON'T break dammit... I WON'T!!!
Right, I'm off back to my puppy porn! Big Grin

Jo

Jo,

I know that some raise an eyebrows when the phrase, "we met on the internet...." is uttered but there is a collective wisdom there that you will have to accept sooner or later.... Wink

Just think of the floppy ears and sad eyes... Actually forget Ian, concentrate on getting a puppy.

How could you resist having your own version of this?

Oh By the way the best thing about it is that even if you have stood on a peg and missd everything that has come your way then you can at least take pleasure that your dog can do its bit!! I've had to rely on that once or twice myself!!
