I have the chance of buying, from a friend, this Sako 75 in .300 WM that hasn’t had more than 50 rounds through its bbl! Last year I sold my Blaser R93 in that particular caliber, and it’s about time to get another .300WM! Are those rifles any good? How much are they worth? Thanks for any advice! They're quite OK. The accuracy is very good normally and if it fits you, it isn't a bad buy. The price for even the used ones is, however a bit too high at least here in Finland. They are normally going for 800-1000 € even as used, which makes the Tikka T3 all the more attractive for rough use. But the Sako is always a Sako, and the 75 still has more of the "good old Sako" feeling than the new 85 model, IMHO.

In the US, that gun would run $800 to $1000 depending on condition. I have never owned one, but I have handled a couple. They feel like they are a quality firearm. I don't know about you, but I prefer the feel of my Blasers over the Sako.

Thank you all for your advice! My friend is buying a new semi-automatic (Benneli) and has been offered 400 € for the Sako by the gunshop dealer. So I think this rifle is really a bargain and I am taking it! Thanks again for helping me to make my mind. Ive just hunted hi and low to get two sako 75's in 30/06 cal. I think that there is no comparison between the 75 and the new 85 that has come out. It seems that sako have gone down the tikka route , namely cheapening down their rifle's. The x95 range has been superseded by the T3. A cheaper and less robust rifle in my opinion. Now the same has happened with the 85. Luckily, I managed to secure a deal form GMK on a couple of 75's. I know that they are out of production, so thought that there would be a push to get ride of 'last years model'. It just goes to show that there is not a single 75 on the market in the UK now. They have all been snapped up. I feel that those that were in the market for a new rifle may have gone for the older model, given the choice. Possibly because the astute amongst us have had a feel of the new offering ...........

Were the bores fouled on your new 75's?

I have Sako 75 and all I can say it, take it. Nice rifle, great barrel, I like the trigger and most of the parts are made out of metal, not plastic. like Tikka or Manlicher. Good Luck

I have a Sako 75 that's on its fourth barrel. It has a great trigger and always feeds and ejects really good.It is as accurate as any other fine rifle.I can't say it's the best because I have not used my other rifles as much. From now on I will use my Winchesters for a few seasons and then compare my experiences and draw conclusions. The difference I noticed so far is it is heavier and the scope mounting is too high when useing a 50mm scope.

Hi Patriot 76, As far as I'm aware the rifles are brand new. They have almost consecutive serial numbers( 2 digits apart), and have been sold to me as New. The reason given was that the rifles were on back order from GMK , but in laminated stocks. The original order fell through for some reason, as these rifles had been reserved for collection for some time. It just paid to hassle GMK(the countries main imported for ALL firearms), and get them to do a bit of work. The suggestion was to have a look at what they had in stock, and hopefully make something up. As the barrels and action were already had up and reserved, they did not come under the usual 'parts available' that normally go into making up an order. When GMK place orders, all of the components are delivered separately, actions, barrels, stocks. The rifles are then put together from components and passed on to the retailer of RFD for sale. It's a more cost effective way of supplying then having made up rifles on the shelf, and no buyer. We will be picking up the rifle's once they have been threaded , proofed and fitted with T8's at Nigel teague's workshop. Then the load development can start.

I bought Sako 75 Hunter in caliber 9,3x62 few years ago. So far i've shot only one young moose bull (3 seasons cold streak with mooses ) with it. And of course, some practising on range too. Anyhow, despite the lack of chances on woods, i really like my 75. It is finished quite nicely, and the accuracy is very good. Just one thing i've found less nice in sako 75, and it is the "key consept"- locking system on bolt. I've never needed it, and i consider it as an useless part on my gun. Nevertheless, i'm happy owner of 75.
