Guys,
How has your season gone so far?

I have only managed to grass two bucks so far and not even on my main patch. Work is a horrible thing!

So far 1 wild pig, 2 yearling does and 3 bucks, all of them pretty nice. One was a buck I had been chasing for 3 years, another one was a forkhorn, about 8 to 9 years old, for my taste quite a trophy. I had seen himn on several occasions and had always thought that it was a young one. Late last May I saw him again at a very close distance and got my doubts about his supposedly young age.

There is another one pretty close to a major highway,a young one but in this area we use to kill all animals that are in season, still better than scratching them off teh tarmac lateron. Seen him twice in the dense woods, no chance for a secure shot bit one of these days...

Hello,

so far harvested two bucks. Nothing spectacular, one tiny yearling and a weak 3-year old. Shot the yearling while stalking in the woods at 4:30 in the morning. Stood in a little clearing at 120m. The doe with him was smart enough, caught a glimpse of me and moved off. The yearling was obviously too unexperienced and was still trying to figure out why everyone else had left, when the .270 Win hit him... I love stalking as opposed to sitting in a high stand. Unfortunately hunting leases in Germany seldom offer the opportunity for nice stalking...

And passed on one really strong yearling - maybe see him again in a couple of years.

Sorry, got carried away - have a nice season everyone,

elwood.

Very good start, poor May and early June (weather) and great late June. Couple of memorable stalks and a couple of really nice bucks - an atypical 11pointer and a nice approaching bronze 6 pointer.

Hearing reports of rutting activity - may be an early rut this year!

Spent three days in Scotland at the start of June in what is supposed to be top Roe country. Saw two deer over the three days. One was a nice six point buck, but no shot available.

Went home totally disgusted (again) with commercial stalking. I suspect that the place was already shot out - commercial forestry.

At least the fallow and sika start here on 1st September.

All the best.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

33 days to go!! I can't wait to get out agin on the first morning of the season. The last two seasons have given the team (3 of us) five, and three respectively.

We have just planted 45 acres of grass and a 2 acre cover crop in the adjoining field to our main wood. I can only think this will be an improvemnt on the stubble we have had in the past. That is if we get anyrain on it soon before it all dies!!

On the Roe front, I went out at a freinds and got a yearling in the evening and blanked the following morning because a hot air balloon decided to fire the burners as it passed over the deer so they could watch them running... You can imagine what I mumbled!!!

Rgds,

Shot this buck on Friday morning. Very hard stalk (crawling many yards through wheat on iron hard ground) and hard shot at end. I sat contemplating life in the warm sun feeling pretty good!

What a corker!!!

Well done, I bet the sore knees and stiffness was well worth thhe end result!!

There is definately something nicer about early morning stalks and watching the world wake up.

Congrats,

Holy cow, now that is indeed one exceptionally nice buck! Haven't come across one of this calibre so far...

Waidmannsheil!

Beautiful pic, too...
