Thanks guys,

When they are done I will try to post a couple of piccies.

BTW Spie I like the polyfiller idea. I'm gonna try that on Bob the fallow skull I have.

Upto now I have been screwing the skull tothe shield just behind the eye, but it is a little untidy.

Just leave it on, it neutralises itself I think

Also what is the best way to attach a roebuck,(or any buck) to the shield? I like to have the full length skull mount, down to the nose bones.

Regards,
FB

The high-tech approach is to use those little metal clamps they sell at Kettner or Frankonia. The go into the brain cavity and work very good.

The quick-and-dirty approach for those non-lifetime trophys is plain hot glue. If done well, it is barely visible.

I've just used plaster board fixings to attach the skulls to the shields and it was quick and easy. The springy bit opens up in the brain cavity and holds the skull to the wood.

I'll have to keep the angle of cutting in mind on any future bucks, as a cut too far back removes too much bone to get a hold on.

Thanks,

I simply dill two or three holes through the shield and mount it with screws from the backside. (You may have to drill holes in the skull as well if the bone is thin.)
