AR Hunt 2012 IMPORTANT UPDATE =>Page 2
Hi All,

I'm at Livermere tomorrow hosting some duck shooting. I thought it was about time that I got the Feb trip sorted if we are still interested.

I'm aiming for a similar set up to last year, but I believe the preference is to go for the 4 outing weekend again?

Any more points you would like to raise then let me know and I will see what we can incorporate into the weekend.

I will find out how the cull is going so far this year. I know they have had a lot of stakers in but the keeper tells me that they are still seeing big numbers of deer around.

Rgds,
K

Kiri,

Excellent timing Mate, we leave tomorrow for a 3 week RSA trip, or perhaps you planned it thusly?

Sign Winkelmeister, George Clooney (I'm not kidding, either!) & myself up straight-away; if you'll have us.

Good one Kiri. Nothing booked yet so should be there again.

Please post the dates and of course the costs for a 4 outing weekend as soon as you've worked them out.

Best,

Hi All,

I think we are looking at dates of 2nd-4th March for this, subject to it working for the team.

I spoke to the estate yesterday and prices are marching on as per usual, (they never seem to go down!!!).

To do a four outing weekend is coming in at £550, and to stay in bed on Sunday mng will mean the cost comes down to £460.

Trophy fees are £85 for Munty bucks of any quality and Roe does (they don't really want them shot), and no charge will be made for the small Munty bucks shot that are indistinguishable from the does.

Each outing will again include up to three does, and accommodation will be full board as always.

I will bring some extra beers soft drinks and vino for the team.

Pigeon shooting will be available on the Sunday for those that want it for £100/gun fully kitted out. We can sort this out on the weekend if the weather allows for it.

Let me know what your thoughts are and we can go from there.

Just for the record, I have put in £30 per person on the whole price to cover organisational costs etc but nothing more.

Rgds,
K

Hi All

Please note amendment to proposed dates. Dates at the hall were unavailable for the previous weekend so it had to move into March.

All other details remain the same.

Right so, following complaints by the management, I am confirming I will attend. Nigel is also a possibility, but currently TBC.

OK, the events of the past four years have been explained in detail to Nigel.

Despite this, he is up for it, so that is a definite. There is another possible, but it will be nearer the time before I could confirm that one.

Hi, if this is open to all, I would be interested in some deer stalking and meeting up with other AR members. Please PM me some more details.

Bwana,

Where Real tree under wear is concerned, our suffering may be short and shocking, but if the pictures make the net then your suffering could go on for a whole lot longer!!! We have experience in this sphere... sadly.

Yep definateyly the double. 450 minimum calibre on muntjac. They are tough little buggers!!

Anyone want CWD while over here? I've just agreed a new 1200 acres for the vampire teddybears!!

Kiri, please post about or PM me some details on the CWD. I'll probably stay a few extra days either before or after Livermere and I'd be interested in getting in a few extra sessions on a high seat somewhere.

Well, hopefully my little .30-06 double will do them justice. If I get gnawed to death by a muntie I will get laughed off the African Hunting board!

Hey Guys,

The estate owner rang me yesterday and asked if I could help him get some hares shot at one of his other estates about 30mins away.

I thought it might be a good idea to go for that on the Sunday after stalking? Additional cost would be £90. We would be looking at about 100 hares if we have a big enough team.

Is that driven hares with a shotgun Kiri?

Sounds awfully tempting......

What sort of charge would one use for it?
03 November 2011, 21:51
Claret_Dabbler
Kiri, that is filling up nicely.

A bit of hare shooting might be fun.

Amir, I would suggest a 36gr load of no 4 shot.

I like Hares, good eating IMO.
Mind you, last year, there were highseats where there were a lot more hares within range than Munties.
I seem to recall trying to resist the temptation to give a few an ear-piercing.

As winter closes in and the weather gets colder, this hare species are more often seen here in Norway. Especially the female sort.
Hopefully it´s not the one to shoot at the estate?

I'd hate to be the dog that was sent to retrieve that one!!

Amir, Yes it would be driven hares with shotguns.

You could always use 36grams of 4's or alternatively you could use 32g of 5's and only shoot at the ones that are in range....
