Hi, I've seen that Midway opened some branches in Europe, their prices are attractive and they carry a lot of interesting stuff; did you have any recent experience with them?

They are easy to deal with and have lots to choose from, but the prices in the Norwegian branch is far from attractive.

They are cheaper than my usual italian sources; my only concern is that they (MidwayItalia) seem to have a considerable stock of items, but I don't know if it's real or not. In other words, are they able to quickly dispatch?

w-b,

There is also currently a Midway Deutschland which I'm pretty sure operates the same as Midway Italia. The German Midway office/premises are located nearby of a northern German airport; where if I am allowed to supose; they use for Air Freight reasons.

In Germany they have substantially increased their website offerings to an amazing number of articles in the past months BUT as 900SS said - their prices are ridiculously high here as well.
Included in the website is the article availability and/or the approximate delivery time; which in pretty much every case is from 9 days to 2 weeks, up to and including over one month. I'm pretty sure means they are simply not keeping stock on hand and shipping as the demands on SKU's are made.

I made a trial order for some Midway bullets and although they were priced CONSIDERABLY higher than the same SKU in the States; they arrived within the specified time (2 weeks).

I'll not be using them unless it's something I absolutely HAVE to have that I cannot obtain elsewhere and certainly not if it's time senitive.

Smart Reloader http://www.smartreloader.com/
is located in Italy, has better prices; although I have NOT tried them yet since they are inveriably Out-of-Stock of any of the items I would have wanted to purchase at any given time anyway.

Hi Gerry, as you could notice, Smartreloader has a rich catalog and attractive prices too, but 60% of the stuff is "sold out", like every kind of custom triggers that I'm looking for. Midway is more expensive but, IN THEORY, they have more available items.

Hi

I have used Midway UK but only as a 'last resort' due to seemingly high costs. I have had better, quicker, less expensive service from Sinclair in the US for reloading kit. Good people to deal with IMHO.

I have had experience with Midway! never again!
They carry very little stock and when you do order it is despatched from the U.S. delivery time is abysmal!
quicker and cheaper to shop @ brownells.com

When the Swiss Midway started a couple of years back, I was quite exited. All of a sudden, there was an alternative source of reloading components (RARE in Switzerland), carrying alternative products (e.g. Win Brass, Swift bullets etc) at prices below what we could obtain locally. I could live with the fact that the website was far from finished, and delivery time was measured in months as opposed to weeks or days.

When you tried to get in touch with them, it would take days or weeks for them to reply (e-mail). Phone calls were answered by some confused person in the Italian part of Switzerland, with very little idea of what Midway was, and even less about delivery schedules, products etc.

Sadly, they soon increased their prices to levels which far surpass what you have to pay for the same products (e.g. Lapua brass and bullets) distributed through the traditional channels. Extreme delivery times have remained... So now, MidwaySwiss has become an absolute last resort for me.

I guess that they made their sums: "if we charge 3 times the amount for our merchandise, we must make 3 times as much dough...." (So true, if you still sell as much...)

Mike,

I didn't realize this only applied to the Midway Swiss Call Center; aren't they ALL like that there.....or are you reffering to Swiss, Italians or Confused Persons in general?

I'm confused.......

Gerry,
take care, we Italians can get fire easily some time.
I think that Mike was speaking about some employee coming from Ticino Canton, where the people speak Italian, or a Swiss-Italian. And as Mike wrote they seem to be a little confused, probably a language problem even if German is one of the languages teached at school. In a obligatory way from primary school.

The first time that I'll contact the Italian call center of Midway I'll wrote honestly if they are confused or less. The interesting thing is that they have opened the Italian office near Brescia.

When ordering from any and all Midway euro, the order is processed in the states,

Order on a weekday and the next coming thursday your order is being handled in the states.

Then shipping time kicks in, in Sweden the prices are just ridiculus and I will not buy from then, period.

I use Brownells, Sinclairs, although I know they are now really Brownells to, and som other US-sources.

I´d rather pay a friend to ship things or shop when I travel then pay a 100% commission for shipping stuff across a bit of water.

Hows that for truth? Smiler

Best regards Chris

I've used Midway UK and have to agree that it looks like they are keeping very little, or no, stock and ordering items from the USA as required. I have bought a few things from them which i found to be reasonably priced but the last order had an item missing and while there was no problem getting them to agree to dispatch it i'm still waiting for delivery.

I also note that they carry things like "expanding" heads and while it is legal for me to order that here in Northern Ireland i believe that you have to have a variation for it in GB so i've no idea how that works.

How do you find ordering from the US Griff? What is postage like, for example? Once you pay the duty and tax do you save anything over the UK prices or is it just a matter of availability?

[Oops, edited to correc the fact that it isn't expanding ammo they carry but expanding heads, the ammo would be illegal to ship to NI as well i suspect]

Asked Midway Sweden why the prices compared to Midway USA was 2.5 times and got a rude and arrogant reply about the "diffculties, expenses and paperwork for export licenses" and a lot of other BS. As most of you, I don't use it unless really desperate.
