I have been noticing quite a few attractive hunting offers with the agents in Slovenia and Croatia. Of course European Russia always has good deals, but maybe the trip isn't as good. Anyone been on one of these little adventures. With Romania closed, who knows how long these two hunts will hang on.

I thought under EU rules, no bear hunting Romania stopped " Until the day breaks and the nights shadows flee away " Big ivory for my pillow and 2.5% of Neanderthal DNA flowing thru my veins. When I'm ready to go, pack a bag of gunpowder up my ass and strike a fire to my pecker, until I squeal like a boar. So why Romania had to stop under EU pressure? They got more Bears then everyone else " Until the day breaks and the nights shadows flee away " Big ivory for my pillow and 2.5% of Neanderthal DNA flowing thru my veins. The bear situation here is very strange. The facts are clear but our ministry of environment can't manage the situation. The facts are: Romanian had the biggest bear population in Europe and this population is still growing every year. The bears didn't have any enemies except hunters. Everything was started in the last fall when the people from WWF, ACDB was part of the staff of the last ministry of the environment. They convinced her not to sign the order that allowed to hunt a number of bears. The ministry signed one contract with someone to make one management plan for bear population, etc in 2007. They get good money to do that. In 2017 this contract should expire and that why those organisations WWF, ACDB, etc want to put hands on that contract. Now the new ministry is very suspicious to reopen the bear hunting. In the meantime the number of bear was increased, the bears are coming very often in the villages for the food, every week are related bears attacks on the humans and the domestic animals. Now the new ministry want to reopen the bear hunting but not a real hunting. She want that the hunting association with the rangers to kill the "problem bears". But she didn't understand that is impossible. Because the problem is not caused by few bears. The problem is that, now are too many bears. And now the hunters associations don't want to do this because they lose money. When they signed the contracts with the government few year ago the bears hunting was allowed. They made plans, management plans including those money. Now they suffer. Also the bears suffers. Because they suppose to protect them, to feed them, etc that why also the problems was started. The conclusion: in this moment in Romania nobody can kill a bear. Even the authorities! It is hilarious!!!! Few months ago on bear was running on the streets in one city. The police, local doctors was trying to catch him, but without success. He was running near the people, near schools, kindergarten etc. In one moment the chief of police was asking to a local hunter to come and kill the bear. He was killing the bear. After that, the chief of the police was moved from that city and the hunter lost his gun rights. Imagine how much stupidity! So in this moment nobody in Romania can kill legally one bear. But the situation can change tomorrow or in few months depending how the authorities will manage the situation. I will be keeping you posted as soon as news arrive. Ing. So the situation is quite clear. Hunting for bears is legal in Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia, Estonia. The only country where a foreigner can book a hunt for a trophy bear and can be sure to get a license, a decent size bear and an export permit is Croatia. If Romania opens again this would be first choice. Until then Croatia is the alternative. If you need help with this hunt contact me.
