I have stumbled upon a box of hornady 162 gr SST's in a load of reloading stuff i was given. Has anyone used these in 7mm08 on Roe or Fallow? How would you rate them.

Thanks

The standard Hornady soft point in 7mm and 30cal
are a great not to expensive projectile ideal for Deer and Pig.
They are quite accurate to.

Alex,

I use Hornady bullets in many of my reloading applications and have always found them to be an excellent product. Both accurate & solid game performance. The only SST's I've used on game have been in .308" caliber and they worked just fine. Other than SST'S I use Round Nose Interlocks in 6mm & 7mm and they are truely great Big Game bullets.

While the 7mm/08 would probably be better off with a 139/140 grain weight, if I had heavier bullets on hand - I'd give 'em a try. Since they won't be launched at warp-factor speed from the 7/08 they ought to just plug on thru game (especially the lighter Roe Deer) and give you some good results.

Cheers,
