I have just received some shocking news. For those who have come across "Bornaghi Cartridges" from Italy.

The owner - Mr Bornaghi committed suicide last week on a shooting range during a competition.

I learned of this sad news this morning from a fellow competitor.

Borranghi makes fantastic shells up to 56 grains and supplied the Italian olympic team in Beijing.

I had the pleasure of dining with him some 02 years ago when he offered a full sponsorship package to a good friend of mine Rudolfo Vigano.

On behalf of all forum members we offer our condolences to his family for this sad loss.

I do not know the circumstances of this shooting.

Other than he was shot and passed away in ITU some 05 days later.

Perhaps Stefano might enlightened us with more details.

Suicide a long term solution to a short term problem.

It is sad, and it is a tragedy. I have never understood, even when things are at their lowest how this could come across as the way to solve ones problems.

Public suicides and murder suicides are even more tragic, unfortunatly they are rarely something that can be avoided. We spend a lot of time in the military talking about both hoping that when we go into work on Monday morning that a suicide hasn't happened to someone we know.

I think the thing to do is to know your friends, and most importantly watch and talk to your friends.

I stopped a girl that worked for me from committing suicide a few years ago, I didn't even know that it was about to happen but caught part of a phone conversation with her mother about how bleak things were. And luckily we were able to get her back on track.

Very sad.

Sad news in deed.

Not wishing to appear pedantic but he was not shot. He shot himself.

Unless of course he walked in front of someone at the wrong time. If that is the case my sympathies go to the person concerned. As they do when ever a train driver suffers a "one under".

Nobody knows thats why I typed what I typed.

There were over 60 competitors present and it was during a club Helice competition.

Nobody is talking at the moment as to exactly what happened.

He is a very very competent Helice shot himself.

I have been using Bornaghi cartridges on second barrels and the pattern they produce is absolutely unbelivable between 35 to 45 metres WITHOUT being barrel dependent.

He has been keeping his wad design to himself for a long time. He does not advertise and only the "IN CROWD" who pays his price gets these special cartridges.........

So we dont know whats going to happen now with supplies

The mystery deepens then. Obviously trying desperately to avoid some megga bucks law suit.

If the stuff was a good as you say I'm sure some will take over the production side of the business. His wad design can't be that special otherwise he'd have sort some kind of patent on it. Plus someone would have been making it for him. Hopefully you have 10K in stock. They should be worth a few quid now the supply has dried up.

That is one of the problems with being one of the "in crowd". You're all fecked when the head of the crowd takes a leave of absence.

I haven't shot ZZ very often but when I have I've always enjoyed myself. Scored dreadfully low numbers but enjoyed it never the less.

I've shot it at some place in Surrey or Sussex I'm sorry but I can't remember where precisely I was out on a week long jolly at the time. Which could explain the inability to hit most targets. beer

I've shot it in Spain whilst out there on a brief tour round with a few friends, and I've shot it in the US on more than one occasion. The BIL is a mad keen shooter of anything flying and is also bloody accurate, 100 straight skeet that sort of thing. which makes it rather humiliating shooting with him.
