fallow season opened on 1 Aug and I was lucky enough to take a friend out for his first buck yesterday.

Hey boggy

I'm gonna get my first outing this week, and I've decided to treat myself to a good buck this yearif the opportunity arises.

I have a new load in the 260 that I'm keen to test on game. What are you using this year?

Hope to get out the next few nights also. Try and bump into an unfortunate Sika.

How've you been boggy?

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Matey shot this with my .308 Sako 85 SS with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x44. It's now in his freezer.

I will probably use the old Parker Hale .243 with the same model scope. I'm out with my father for the next couple of days - time to put some meat down while the animals are rolling in fat.

Yes, they've had a good summer but the grass is now scorched by the heatwave and not a lot of nutrient in it. We need a little more rain to perk up the secondary growth.

I envy you for having fallows. Would love to hunt them on regular basis.

I was in Scotland last week for my annual pilgrimmage. The weather was unseasonably warm and the stags were silent until our last day (typical). It was great to get out in the hills again.

Forestry stags.

The rifle this year was a Sako 85 in .308 Winchester shooting Sako 123 grain gameheads. It worked a treat, though the cult of the .270 is getting to me again so I will probably use that next year.
