Hi All,

Over the years I have shot some really quite nice heads, amongst the mediocre and the frankly dross ones.
I have never had any of the good ones measured for medals etc,how would you go about such a thing?
I take it that weight has something to do with it...if so my good ones will probably be lighter now after several years,I've tried a web search but didn't find much on head assessment.any thoughts?

I am not sure of what is your question...

In Spain, there is an organization called Junta Nacional de Homologacin de Trofeos de Caza which has regional chapters. I am a Speaker of the Madrid Chapter, on behalf of ACE (stands for Asociacion del Corzo Espaol or Spanish Roe Asociation) of which I am its General Secretary.

Here is a link to a page in which the way the trophy is measured, a la CIC (Conseil International de la Chasse)

http://www.fedecaza.com/esp/menuprincipal/menuprincipal/otros_organismos/fedyorg/corzo.asp

once measured, and depending on the number of cic points obtained by the trophy it will qualify as:
gold medal: +120 pts
silver medal: 105-119,99 pts
bronze medal: 95-104,99 pts

I am sorry this is all in Spanish but I will be happy to help if you may be a little more specific.

best regards,

montero

Roebuck, there are several methods for scoring antlers (or trophies, as not all hunting trophies have antlers): SCI, CIC etc. The most commonly accepted standard in Europe is CIC. CIC have their scoring methods published on the Web:

CIC

This is a frame-based site, so you'll need to follow links "red-book" and "blue-book". Both are PDF files (links called Red.pdf and Blue.pdf respectively). Both files contain text in English, French, German and (I think) Spanish. I believe the Red book tells you how to score, and the Blue book establishes medal classes.
