Well,

we do not have any real grounds to have/arrange for the style of AR hunts that take place in the UK,

however still yearning to meet and shoot, (I do belive that is proper english) a group of swedish hunters have decided to meet up for this upcoming weekend to have a day of shooting sporting clays and perhaps a drink or two of some sorts.

I thought that I would be at least in some way interesting for the rest of the European forum to know that this was all inspired by you guys.

The makers of this weekend are the three stooges, were of I am one, the other two are shots/hunters that I spend time hunting with.

In all there are to be some odd 20 people gathering, coming from all ower the country.

I hope that by monday or perhaps tuesday that there will be some fotografic evidence posted of all this, should there be any sort of interest at all.

Well with that I bid you all farewell for now, I have a texas style chili to attend to and I must say it sure does need a lot of tending to.

Regards Chris

Chris,

I have been sent this picture from an anonymous source who claims that this was taken at last year's "Swedish sporting gathering":

Please confirm whether or not this is case, any Visa requirements and anticipated inclement weather in the area with the nearest airport as soon as you can mate.

I have taken the liberty of purchasing a cunning disguise for my, depending on the the answer given to the question above, impending visit:

I don't speak very much Swedish but if you get me drunk enough can sing the 1980 Norwegian Eurovision entry with enthusiasm, if not skill.

Yours,

Amirsson It

Husqvarna M-98. Good that you can have a get-together. Wish I could join you. Hope yesterdays snow didn't put a damper on your festivities.
I'm in the U.S. now, but will be back in Stockholm the first part of June. Maybe I can get together with you all for some hunting and shooting B.S. and other "arm-bending" challenges. I'm pretty good at qwaffing a little Mackmyra (after the shootin' irons are put away) of course.
It would be fun for me to brag abit of my deer, elk, pheasant and turkey bags this last season. I know you all have alot of good stories to tell also. Hope to see you sometime.
Oh! How did your purple stock on your M-98 work out? Lyle

Ok,

My neck is some what stiff and my liver bloated,

I have clay dust and parts in about every pcoket of my hunting outfit.

Lets start with the results:

18 shots met up friday or saturday morning depending on were they all came from,

we spent 4 400 shells to try and break 3 600 clays during a whole day of snow, slate, below celcius degrees, 8-10 m/s winds and it was all done with a huge grin on our faces.

Result

Weekend logo and the car of the most distant shooters, 650 km one way to take part in a shoot, that is some commitment. ( any decent gathering has to have a logo, right)

I had the honors of opening up the shoot, and lord and behold or something along those lines,

I did manage not only to break the clay, I did a proper job of completly smashing it.

Here are some more random pics of the event in question,

as I start to get hold of decent pics there are more to come.

Marcus using his FN A5 anno 1947, look at the condition of that semi!??.

With a full bore choke on the gun I must say that when he did hit the clays with it, there was no doubts as to if it was a broken clay or not.

The line, yours truly, on the far left, being the only one not wearing a cap or headgear.

After a morning of trying out things and getting used to the form of shooting, about 10 or so of the shots had never even tried sporting before we had a bit of lunch.

I had the honours, again to cook for the lot and they were all feed, renskav, that is reindeer finely sliced with cream and onions fried up and reduced in cream, with potatoes and it was all cooked up on murikkas,

a traditional frying and cooking skillet used over open flame.

after the luncheon,

we had a one round comeptition of 25 clays taken from the hardest line of stands,

Notice the absolut focus on the line,

the top scorers had 16 clays, that went to a final round of 10 shots, I had a decent 11 together with about 4 others, and then the rest all had falling numbers of clays taken.

I was sort of pissed at myself there for a while, did manage to miss a few "easy" clays.

After the day had come to an end, and that was after a lot more shooting being done,

we all retired to the B&B that we had arranged for, I started cooking a bit of cornbread, the chili was heated and the beer and single malts started to being poured,

everyone did at least 30 min in the sauna before coming back to normal temps and then with a great big ration of chili, soour cream and cornbread, the real evening commeced.

By my good nature and breeding Smiler I have decided not to show any pics from that part of the gathering,

Amir-buddy, sorry no blondes were being seen, and frankly at some point in time we will have to adress your ideas of the blond swedettes.

( I´ll add this as is sort of relates to blondes, going back to the B&B, I spotted these in a field, grazing, you all know me and my weakness for stalking fallow)

This is what you think you might get on a lycky night out.

this is what is considered normal, or was in my days,

and this is the more likely outcome today for the both of us.

Lyle- Looking forward to hear from you as you come around to sweden again,

the pink stocked M98 turned out fine, so fine I had an offer i could not refuse and today she is being used by a bear hunter in the north of Sweden, as we spoke last time he told me they had shot four bears so far during the season and he had a few more lined up, he just had to have the dogs rested a bit.

Well that was all for now, more to come.

/Chris

Edited to show pics in a better fashion.

Chris the hotlinks to the Swedish forum don't work unless you're a member and go to the other forum, I think you need to host them on photobucket.

If you email them to me I can get them hosted for you.

PS>

About this blond thing, I was led to believe that:

Ok- good to know,

I´ll sort out the pic thing (sorted I think), me coming here thinking I did a smart thing,

just to make sure, you did notice that the last "blonde" I did post is a dude right?!

I have never said no to a more sturdy kind of girl but those you do refere to are in a weight class above me.

Nothing against sturdy girls here either mate, except the sort with two heads that look like they can smell the blood of a Christian man at a hundred yards, if you know what I mean... Big Grin

Cool pics in deed mate, I can only confirm you comments in that it was a hell of day for it, that Semi is absolutely immaculate, It looks like missing isn't a private affair and that Judas fallow will be very handy come the opening of the season! salute

Yup. When we next meet remind to tell you the story of my 21st birthday. The operative bit is that I hired a houseboat in Amsterdam and everything else follows after that... hilbily

The only problem is that it will be a lob-sided swop. The game will only be concerned with the shooting ability of who ever comes this side. On the other hand, I pitch-up in Sweden with my grey head and wrinkly knees and the ladies will be saying "Go away," or Swedish words to that effect. old Big Grin

Actually that is only one third of the shooters on the line there,

however I must dissapoint you all a bit,

no ladies or other wise inclined females were present at that point of the weekend.

Still I do belive the lack of feminine presence did allow us all to be more ourselvs and just relax for a day or so.

Well now I am soon enough off for some easter long range shooting and if I might lucky a try or two at some wildboar.

Take care you all/Chris

Ok, but that's just the free-range beaver.

Being from ZA, I'm sure you can appreciate just how much of a commodity hunting can be and beaver hunting especially.

Naturally then there is more than one way to skin a beaver.

We also have some excellent high-fence and outright canned beaver available for the visiting sportsman. Personally not my thing but definitely increases the chance of successful hunt for the short of time or hair. Big Grin

Trophy fees apply.
