Guys - below is a link to the BASC website which gives guidance on submitting evidence to the Inquiry that will decide whether further regulation will be required following the Cumbria shootings. The influential parliamentary Home Affairs Committee has announced that it will conduct an inquiry into Firearms Control. The Committee has called for written evidence from interested parties. Lets get moving and make some submissions now rather than bemoan any ridiculous proposals that pop up in a few months time... http://www.basc.org.uk/en/depa...mitting-evidence.cfm | ||

After the school-shooting last year in Winnenden, with 16 dead people, we have nearly the same problem. After this tragedy, we got a new gun law. Every gun owner must bring a proof about the gun storage. Since this happend, not only in Bavaria went nearly 20000 rifles, shotguns and handguns to scrab. Many rare and expensive guns. At the moment, the guns law discussion is newley started. Socialistic´s, the Social Democrats and "The green" parties will have a total gun ban, especial for target shooters. The others, the government at the moment, a coalition of the conservationist party and the "Liberals", want to have other, new and expensive things. The newest is, all gun safes must have a biometric lock. This should be still this year, in the next months. Other ideas are, that the target shooters must storage the guns at the shooting ranges, only bad for this clubs without any own shooting range. Hunters should store the rifles, or the rifle at policestation, so was it in the GDR. And the next is to have a tax on every gun, to reduce the legal guns. So, we get hard times here in germany. Thank you for your submission to the Home Affairs Committee’s inquiry on Firearms Control, which will be made available to members of the Committee. The Committee may make use of your evidence for the purpose of carrying out its inquiry, including—if it wishes—printing and publishing your evidence, or making it available for public inspection in the Parliamentary Record Office. The Committee has decided that witnesses can themselves publish or otherwise make use of their own evidence. The Committee will not publish or otherwise disclose personal postal or e-mail addresses or telephone numbers. If, on further consideration, there is any information you believe to be sensitive you should contact the Clerk to explain what harm you believe would result from its disclosure and the Committee will take this into account when deciding whether to publish the evidence. Details of this inquiry will appear in the News Section published on the Home Affairs Committee website at http://www.parliament.uk/homeaffairscom/ Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.
