Subject to,your physical ailments allowing I would suggesst simply working your way eastwards away from Spain moving as fast as possible towards the eastern Europeans states.

Plenty of good hunting opportunities along the way especially the closer you get to Romania and don't ignore the fantastic hunting that's available in Russia.

The European reds make our Scottish reds off the hills look third rate. And if you really enjoy mountain views Chamois are the things to hunt.

They're only third rate if antler size is all you care about.

I have taken both European reds and Scottish hill stags and prefer the overall experience on the highlands a lot more. Each to their own.

Like you say each to his own.

Scottish hill Red are OK but they can be the dumbest creature going at times. I much prefer stalking Sika.

I think mr. gintrap might be a troll, best not to feed him.

I agree with Boghossian that red deer on the Scottish hills is a very special experience. In fact I personally can see no reason to go any further but I am new to shooting sports and so far from an expert. I live in Ireland and have lots of sika stalking here but nothing compares to getting out on the Scottish hill on an autumn day, even if it is for trout rather than stags. I view my sika stalking as the best of what is locally available, and it is good fun, and my Scottish red deer stalking as the peak of my stalking year.

It helps to be fit, of that there is no question, but some estates will now take stalkers on the hill in argos and quad bikes and also recover shot beasts that way so being fit is not an absolute requirement. Personally I enjoy the hard walk but it is not necessary if you make alternative arrangements.

On the other hand central Europe has a long hunting tradition and it may be that this is also a factor for you, our stalking tradition in the UK is really only 150 years old and I suspect Prince Albert brought a lot of it from central Europe. The driven type hunt is also a different thing from the Scottish experience and so personal preference will be a big factor.

I posted the following report on AR of my first trip for Scottish stags, hopefully you will enjoy the pictures and they might give you some idea if it is for you or not:

Ah! There we go again. Disagree with the regular bar stool crowd and get called a troll. dancing

For someone who's done a few years as ponyman I don't find Scottish hill stalking anything to rave about. I've see better scenery and I've hunted just as challenging deer. Some buy into the myth and the hype. Some of us just see it as it is. Good fun when the weathers kind, bloody miserable and hard graft when the weather's dreck.

Still each to his own.

Correct! Another of the regular bar stool crowd waved the same flag when I had the temerity to question his reply one one of the other threads. It seems you only have to disagree with one or two on here and the locals roll out the troll branding kit.

An easy way of not having to explain yourself I suppose. Just shows a basic lack of imagination on the most part.IMO

Is it really that many/ I hadn't bothered to count. I wouldn't know where to look for that sort of irrelevant info on a postee anyway.

Nice to know that you take such an interest in me. Have you read any of them? Roll Eyes Other than the ones in this thread of course. Big Grin

I much prefer to ask questions and discuss technical and practical aspects of hunting rather than give long rambling, "today day I went hunting with a friend it was a bright and sunny morning and the wind was from the west" accounts of various hunts and experiences as I have seen in some threads. I normally find such post of limited interest to me personally. So take the view of why inflict similar posts from me on fellow site members.

I'm not saying people shouldn't post such accounts or that people shouldn't enjoy reading such posts. I can only speak for myself and say they are not for me on a number of levels.

So feel free to ask questions, raise issues and provide technical information. I will do the same and we will hopefully find some common ground, and mutual interests.

For The continent I could recommend K&K Premiumjagd although German, they should be fluent in English

Good luck
