Hi chapster!

I've made the same experience with roe deer. As long as they cant figure out your silhouette the colour doesn't really matter.

But you better dont wear your blaze orange fleece jacket while hunting doves. I sometimes hide so well (camo-suit AND camo-net) that my lab doesn't find me any more and still the doves are spooked. In Germany we say they have an eye on each feather...

Chapster1,

I am not really into cammo that much and most of my kit bar one or two items is in Loden green. Having said that, I am having second thoughts.

I suspect wearing cammo may come in handy is when the deer are aware something is there, not are not too sure what it is...I am not that keen on all the real tree type cammos, but prefer something that breaks up the outline more..

Also I am noticing that wearing a face veil helps in certain circumstances ie sitting in a rather open highseat for instance. I think it not only needs to break up the whiteness of your face, but it need to incoperate a hat to break up the head and shoulders outline too.

Unfortunately, wearing cammo has its downsides particularly with regards Joe Public and that is why I tend to wear mostly plain green. Still, I don't discount its usefullness in certain circumstances and it is an area I intend to keep expirimenting with..

Regards,

Pete

Hi all ive being out stalking today 27/11/04 and i tried a little experiment by not using my usual realtree cammo, and instead i had a bright red fleece jacket on, i know in the usa they ware blaze orange so they can be seenm,by other hunters but here in uk we dont bother, but my point is that i stalked 2 roe does and they wernt spooked at all, and i moved just as slowly as normal, and i also harvested them both and watched a fox which was not alarmed by the red fleece
so in future im not going to bother about expensive realtree cammo,
