I saw a picture of a sporterized K-31 7.5x55 on the internet. Was it ever popular to sporterize this rifle for hunting in Switzerland? Thanks in advance.

Yes, sporterized K-31s are pretty common in Switzerland. Mostly, what we see on the range are factory action/barrels with customized stocks and a scope mounted. The attraction of the rifles to a large degree is based on subsidized military ammo, perfect for practice on the range. Check out our very own "Collani's" page describing a K-31 customization: http://www.collani.ch/Karabiner-K-31-Jagd-Main-e.htm - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... It entices its bearer into primeval forests, into mountains and deserts untenanted by man. - Horace Kephart

I recently saw a work done by a friend of mine on a k31. he shortened the front part of the stock, near the grip grooves, sharpening it . He then cut the shovel, and put on both extremities a plate with rails. He can couple the two parts in any position. The barrel cover stock was obviously taken away. He painted the stock with a green matte military paint. He mounted the scope using a plate mounted on the left of the action. A very interesting result. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil
