I have two scopes, one has the attributes I want ( dial up turrets) the other doesn't but has a better field of view! One scope is a new Leupold lrt mk4 3.5-14-40 the other is a Burris black diamond 4-16-50. The leupold has great optics and dial up turrets but the field of view is not as good as the Burris, I don't know if you can get the dial up adapters for the burris. If I could I would sell the Leupold and keep the Burris if not I will sell them both and buy something else. Any suggestions on a solution to my problem would be appreciated ie: what scope to buy or where to buy the dial up adapters. regards Griff

Griff, It's got to be either a Hungarian 8 x 56 Schmidt or if you're feeling a bit flush a 3-12 x 50. If we can RV at the weekend we'll bring some up so you can have a good look. Regards

griff, Give us some more to go on.....cannot figure the reason for your dilema. Scotland - I trust it would be highland shooting with the occaisional bit of forested woodland. I'm a tried & true European optic end user, like Tim I can live easily with 6x42's & 8x56's with the oddball Docter 3-10x48 thrown in. I find fixed powers afford more than enough long-range definition and to tell the truth almost never touch the power ring on the variables anyway. Plus today's options of selecting the best recticle for your primary use would be a suitable solution for my way of thinking. The lower price and less to-go-wrong of fixed powers easily outwieghts the added cost & complications incurred with the varibales - for me anyway. Especially the 3.5-14 Leupold, which like you say is a great long-g-g range piece if you're shooting across valleys but the 40 objective dosen't give me the morning/evening edge we require for most of our German use. Also, do you ever use it on 3.5 power? As for the Burris, I've one; a fixed 12X (only because Leupold's were sold out at the time I really needed a scope) and one of the longest scopes I own. Since it's purchase I've have passed up every other Burris I ever had in my hands on the numerous spending junkets to the US, sorry, they just didn't so it for me - a matter of personal taste. Cheers, Number 10

I can second the S&B 8x56. ( got it from England with a big help from IanF ) My scope is with the German #4, wich fits a roebuck between the horisontal bars at 100 M. I use mine primarly for roe hunting on open fields at dusk and dawn and it sits on a ZKK 601 in 308 Winnie. Compared to the Leupold sights I have on my big game rifles, I find the S&B to be superior regarding optical quality. The fixed S&B meets all my demands when talking about this kind of hunting. On second thoughts Griff if you're planning on keeping that hot rod of your's you might want to go for the 3-12 x 42 option which would be more compatible with the low comb on your stock. Regards,
