Does anybody have information on the current status of Diana Hunting Tours???

A friend has a hunt booked with them, but apparently the company is under going "restructuring" and "downsizing" and communications from them have been slow and perhaps a bit evasive..

On the grape vine he has heard that they are in trouble, with some suggestion they are in danger of going bust?

If anybody knows anything I would be grateful for a response either here or in private via a PM.

Regards,

Pete

Eeker I'm currently in NE Poland; my stag hunt will begin in 2 days. I booked 11 months ago and I have had no feeling at all of any problem or trouble from Diana. I've sent them a couple of email few days ago and they replied promptly......I'm really puzzled and curious!

A Warning About Diana Hunting Tours

(posted October 28, 2008)

Scores of hunters who booked trips through the European booking agency Diana Hunting Tours have had to return home without hunting because the company did not pay operators for trips it has booked. According to a press release issued just last week by Diana's corporate parent, DTG Sweden AB, the company is in financial trouble due to severe liquidity problems. It also reports that a backlog in company accounting was discovered recently.

The problems apparently started many months ago, as a company press release on Diana's web site states it had to end relations with two hunting operators this summer due to problems with advance payments. There has also been a rash of resignations on the board of directors at DTG, which is a publicly traded company in Europe. Late this past September, DTG even fired its executive director, who was hired only this past March. DTG replaced him with a turnaround specialist whose mission was to increase the company's liquidity. That specialist resigned last week.

The Hunting Report left messages at Diana Hunting Tours and DTG Sweden AB, but no one has returned our calls. If you have a pending hunt that you booked through Diana, contact your hunt operator right away. Do not get on a plane without verifying that your hunt was properly booked and paid for. See the November issue of The Hunting Report for the complete story. - Barbara Crown, Editor.

Their website is acting screwy, and the guy I normally talk to isn't answering emails or the phone.

I take it they are caput!

The only shame is that lots of people won't get the refund. Last night I spoke to my client from USA and 7 of his mates booked 3 months ago some hunts. Everything went down.

I realize only now how much I've been lucky, since my very recent stag hunt in NE Poland has been 100% satisfactory; I booked 3 times with Diana during the last 3 years, the danish staff has always been polite and efficient and I had no complaint whatsoever. I want to express my solidarity with the hunters that have been (and possibly will be) ripped off; anyway, it's sad to know that the world's biggest hunting tour operator has gone belly up. Thanks guys for posting the updates.

Fingers crossed that anybody who has booked will be covered by insurance or will have paid by credit card.

It could also be that the Danish Travel Guarantee Fund might be able to help...

Diana Hunting Tours Declares Bankruptcy; Refunds Available For Booked Hunters

(posted November 03, 2008)

Only days after we warned you last week about Diana Hunting Tours' financial troubles, the company declared bankruptcy on October 30th. The good news is that hunters who booked a trip with Diana and did not get to hunt may be eligible for a full refund from the Danish Travel Guarantee Fund.

The Danish Travel Guarantee Fund is a private, independent institution created under Danish law to provide assistance to Danish travelers affected by the bankruptcy of a tour operator. Today, we have confirmed that the Travel Guarantee Fund will extend that assistance to anyone who purchased a travel package from Diana Hunting Tours, no matter what their citizenship. We have that from the fund's chairman of the board, thanks to editor in chief Steen Andersen at HuntersMagazine in Denmark, who confirmed the information for The Hunting Report.

If you are among those hunters who booked a trip with Diana and were left holding the bag, here's what you need to do to apply for a refund:

A notification letter and "replacement notification form" will go out to all clients who purchased a travel/hunting package with a departure date after October 30. You will need to fill out the form and mail it back to the Fund.

If your hunting trip was scheduled to start before Diana's date of bankruptcy on October 30 but you were unable to hunt because the trip was cancelled by Diana or the operator, or you have not received a trophy you took on a hunt booked by Diana, contact the Fund by e-mail at vikar1@rejsegarantifonden.dk or by telephone at (011 first when dialing from the US) +45-4587-8333 to obtain a replacement notification and file for a reimbursement.

You'll also need to provide proof of payment, such as a receipt or bank statement showing a transfer of funds, and a copy of your contract with Diana. Just be aware that depending on the circumstances, trips scheduled before October 30 or unshipped trophies taken on hunts before this date will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Refunds may take several months to process.

It's also possible to have the Fund transfer your compensation to another hunt operator. Again, you'll have to fill out a compensation notification and include the information on the new operator you are contracting. All of the directions on how to file a claim or have funds transferred to another operation are available on the Fund's web site, however it is all in Danish. For a rough translation provided by Google Language Tools click on the link below. You can download a copy of the compensation notification form from this site under "Information For Travel Customers."

If all this seems too daunting for you, two Danish booking agents have volunteered to assist hunters interested in transferring their funds to another hunt. They are Limpopo Travel and Sparta Hunting Club. Limpopo Travel is owned by Diana's founder and former owner Jan Krossteig, who has long been uninvolved in Diana's activities. Many of Limpopo Travel's employees previously worked at Diana and know the operators Diana represented. They are also the company we've told you is booking the Makuya area in South Africa near Krueger National Park.

The other company that has offered to help, Sparta Hunting Club, is relatively unknown to us. There is one Hunt Report in our database (No. 4910) that mentions Sparta as the booking agent. Sparta's General Manager Jens E. Rasmussen (jer@spartahunt.com) says he is willing to help any hunters rearrange trips booked through Diana. Should you choose to contact either of these companies, you should practice due diligence and contact references before making any commitments. - Barbara Crown, Editor.

Diana Hunting Tours Founder Resurrects Bankrupt Agency

(posted November 13, 2008)

Hunters who were caught up in the financial meltdown of European hunting agency Diana Hunting Tours will be glad to hear the company has been purchased from bankruptcy. Seems company founder Jan Krossteig has just purchased the immaterial assets of the company and reopened the agency's doors.

Krossteig originally founded Diana in 1974 and sold the company 10 years ago. Diana was subsequently sold again in 2006 and floated on the stock exchange in Europe via its Swedish parent company DTG Sweden AB. After a period of apparent mismanagement, the company was declared bankrupt only two weeks ago.

Krossteig says he plans to rebuild the company and already has the support of outfitters who worked with Diana worldwide, even those who lost money to the previous management. As for hunters who lost funds paid to Diana under its previous managers, Krossteig says they should contact the company for assistance in getting a refund from the Danish Travel Guarantee Fund (which we told you about in our November 3 E-mail Extra Bulletin). Diana's new management will also help arrange for replacement trips. Contact Diana Hunting Tours at Diana@diana.dk by e-mail; or call 45-... (dial 011 first from the United States). We'll have the full story on Krossteig's plans for the company in the December issue of The Hunting Report. - Barbara Crown, Editor.
