From the poll listed here recently I see a lot of members are in the 50 plus bracket. Do you remember A J Smith ? "Smokey" Perhaps you did not hear but he commited suicide a week ago. He was a legendary having 02 world championship and 03 European Chamopionship. I spent a few days with him a few years ago just discussing the mental approach to shooting. Sad Loss On a similar front Since 1st January 2010 (some 22 days) SIX firearms / shotgun licence holder in the U.K. have comitted suicide using licenced firearms. Sad reflection on our society at present .............

200 people kill themselves on the railway lines every year. If government statistics are to be believed, tens of thousands of people every year die due to alcohol, tobacco and poorly balance diet - too much sugar & fat with insufficient exercise. Maybe the country is returning to a Hogarth's Gin Alley psychology - just wanting emotional oblivion?

Sorry guys, I have not heard of A J Smith. What events did he compete in? Suicide is always a sad affair. Anyone know why? Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;
