I am afraid your question has not yet been answered; I beg your pardon for that omission.

I use the 8x60S myself (in an MAS-36 Sporter), and factory ammo is still - and only - made by RWS. Previously it was loaded with the H-Mantel, now with the DK bullet.

The cartridge is no more popular in Germany, though some older rifles are still in use (most went to the USA after 1945, I would suppose, due to the vicissitudes of the times...). It is however still serving to some extent in Belgium and France, due to the non-military cartridge limitations of these countries.

Between the wars, the 8x60 S was loaded very hotly (as Magnum and Magnum-Bombe); the printed velocities of these times, assessed somewhat optimistically - and assuming very long barrels - reached and surpassed modern 8x64 S levels, at least on the patient paper.

Best regards,
Carcano
