What do you guys think of a mauser 99 rife?

I am looking for a 66 mauser in 9.3x64 and found a 99 mauser for cheap.

What do you think of this rifle?

Cheers mate I know your just trying to help. I guess I am a gun snob too. sofa

Sorry about that.

Mouse93 if your interested in Mausers you should buy the book called Mauser Sporting Rifles. It's out of print, and I bought mine of ebay, but it's damn sure a lot of info on the company. On the Mauser Waffenfabrik sporting rifles I would say it's pretty complete. It doesn't have anything about the military rifles, or at least just enough to keep you on track.

hehe - np - it was stupid q by me anyway Smiler...did used some with 98 system mostly in 8x57 and 7x64...tho I get my knowledge from their site :

http://www.mauserwaffen.de/index.php?id=36&lang=en

and couldn`t find that 99...

about that book is it one of those?:

http://www.mauserwaffen.de/index.php?id=41&lang=en

...however - for me Mauser would be - as Don Heath mentioned in one of his articles - "The standard by which others are judged" (http://www.african-hunter.com/lessons_learned.htm)

...unfortunately their luck went bad last years - they seemed to be kinda lost in their fashion based market fight...if you check their 03 you can see that they try to follow Blaser`s idea of modules and cocking system now...but what I found quite nice and encourageing is that they are back to their roots - bringing the old 1936 mod 98 back:

Smiler... with peep sight and stuff - i guess thats what Mauser is all about - that gun is a legend by itself and i wouldn`t mind to take it anywhere...
