A break from the stalking

We decided to have a little break from the stalking and have a bash at a little stream for some wild brown trout.

This stretch is a syndicated length that has been brought back to life by the members. From an over grown , neglected chalk stream, they have produced a little oasis on this two mile stretch .

The stream hold grayling and wild brown trout. But a few rainbows have been added for variety. Spotting and casting to rising fish with 3 to 5 weight gear is the method. Up stream nymphing is hard going, so dry fly always fishes best, and more exciting.

Phil and I fished only a few hundred meters apart. But felt as if we had the whole world to ourselves in this glorious environment.

We both covered a few rises before the midges and the lack of light forced us off. A brace of fish each, and a brace for the pot was enough for both of us.

Time for the pub, and long chats over what we had planned next.

What refreshing photos, as I have now to go out and move irrigation sprinklers on my small sandpile farm in near 100F heat. Cool
