Hi all, My mate and I have used thes boots for the last couple of years, (him for 3-4yrs) and they always seeem to crack on the crease that develops behind the toes. does anyone else have these problems with these boots or others. I don't think I'll be buying another pair when these are done. What does everyone else use? Rgds, FB

FB, I think Le Chemaue do a reconditioning liquid that should help prevent them doing that. I always need a new set every two years anyway, but it might help. I tried a pair of the Musto leather ones, and have used them for stalking, lamping, driven days etc, and they are nice, light weight and breathable, plus warm in winter...but the damn things are starting to leak on the crack behind the toes. At three hundred quid retail (mine were cheap) i'm not overly impressed. I was going to take them to the cla and badger a rep into a new set!! I think you cant go wrong with Le Chameau. SWS

I wear Danners lace to toe hunting boots for hunting, and a pair of Courteneys for everyday wear. I wear Danner military boots called Acadias everyday for 10 hours a day at work. And I have for 8 years. So I have a little bit more confidence in them, than someone who wears them occasionally. I will say they are very narrow, the wides are like regulars.

Second the Danners suggestion. Nice boots - but narrow as mentioned. Good quality and last. Rgds Ian Just taking my rifle for a walk!........

I didn't like the quality or the feel of the Mouflons. I've had a couple of pairs of ankle height leather boots from Zamberlan which were good but head and shoulders above anything I have tried are these:- http://www.lowaboots.com/catalog/ShowBoot.cfm?StockNum=...earch=renegade%20gtx Available from Cotswold etc they are light, very hard wearing (stand up to brambles when soaked) easy to care for and very high quality indeed, the comfort is unbelievable.

The problem you describe is quite common in boots. Boots are made to fit an average person 70-80% this works fine, Unless you have wide or flat feet. In order to find a boot that feels comfortable people with wide feet, usually buy boots 1-3 sizes to big in order to get the width they need to feel comfortable. This causes the boots to break over in the wrong spot, causing a crack to form. Pull out your insole and step on it. If you have more than 3/8 of an inch in front of your big toe, your boot is the wrong size. You need to find a boots sold in a larger width. Robert Johnson
