No friend to share your snacks with, snuggle up to while waiting in the rain, sneak back to the gralloch, point out deer you haven't seen, find deer that have run off dead and generaly share those special stalking moments.

I wonder how I used to do it. This morning I shot a roebuck next to cover. At the shot the buck reacted somewhat and took off low. I thought heart shot but after waiting and then examining the strike could only find a couple of spots of blood. After a lot of searching I find the buck 30m away in a hollow. The grass is allready long, in 6 weeks time it'll be well nigh impossible but by then the pups'll be weaned.

That's right 1894's ace lab has had pups - forget searching all night long for that fallow that ran off, get your silent friend on the task. You will wonder how on earth you managed without him!

There's few things in life that a dog can't make better....especially a puppy.
