Trouble Getting Hold of Powder in UK?

Gents,

This weekend, I was speaking to a guy who runs a small gunshop in Balitor in Scotland. he was saying that he is having a hell of a lot of problems buying powder from his suppliers.

If I understand things correctly, it would seem that the transportion regs have been changed or tightened up and the regular couriers will no longer carry it. Apparently they now have to comply with certain rules such as having two drivers on each run and its simply too much hassle.

Apparently it is having quite an effect on the supply of powders to the retail trade and its going to be hitting consumers soon as supplies run low.

Anybody come across this already or know anything more about it?

Regards,

Pete

Pete,

Sounds like one of Teflon Tony's tricks to stop you reloading.

I have found this too. I am trying to get all my rifles on a diet of either R19 or H380 to make life easy. I managed to get 3 pots of R19 from Litts recently. It was all they had.

Yeah, and just wait, all this c**p surely will spread all over inside the EU - in the name of international cooperation and coordination of memberstate rules... What a load of baloney! Powder is NOT an explosive, its burnrate is way too slow for that. These guys have their heads up their collectives a**es!

In Spain a couple of years ago the police change the powder status from solid fuel to explosive , it means it's transported as it is TNT or high explosive .... only one kilo per shipment , it means we can't get powders as it's more expensive the tranport than the powders itself , luckily it don't apply to the cartidges , and you can send 5000 round in one shipment , it means the loaded cartidges are still loaded witrh solid fuel

Gents,

If you shop around you'll find gunshops that either have a more liberal interpretation of the law or a better relationship with the powder manafacturers. Whatever I recently was able to get 2000 WLR primers through the post and was offered powder in the same shipment. This was by carrier but only 8.50 for a standard package which could have had a bunch more stuff if I so wished.
