Hi all,

After a number of discussions at the AR hunt last weekend, I've been looking at the options for an AR Roe Buck hunt in Scotland early May. Hopefully before the midges get to be too much of a hassle.

We would take our ground in Dumfries, and divide it into beats where hunters would hunt in pairs or singles. Each beat would be big enough to allow for a stalk into a vantage point and drop one hunter off to glass while the other continues to another vantage point on the same beat. Radios would be used to make sure safe entry and exit from he beat was always the case.

There will be no trophy fees for 4 point bucks and below, while we would charge £40+VAT for any bucks with more than 4 points.

My thoughts really are to do this prior to the rut in order to thin out any lesser bucks, so probably early May.

I'm thinking of a hunt where we arrive on Thursday, and hunt Friday and Saturday all Day. Those that get in early enough on Thursday can hunt in the evening, and the same applies to Sunday mng at no extra cost.

Over all you can have up to 6 outings for £360. Accommodation and food will be done directly with wherever you decide to stay. The Ken Bridge hotel is about £60/night but I can call and see if we can get a group rate once we know numbers.

To get the ball rolling how about we suggest 8th to the 11th May or the 22nd to the 25th May as potential starting dates?

By the way we can also get some of you out on the Scottish Ibex Goats Wink which again Nannies and kids are free of charge but limited, and cull or trophy billies are £100/£250 +VAT respectively. You can cape your own stinky billy goat though as there isn't enough money in the world to make we want to touch one of those!!! Wink

Rgds,
K

Hello,

interesting offer and nice initiative. Do you mind some questions ?

- at which airport should we arrive ?
- what about transfer from airport to hunting ground and back again ?
- what about firearm License if you want to bring Your own rifle ?

Kind regards
Morten from Norway

Hiya Norweigan,

Here are some answers. I hope it helps.

All will need to bring their own rifles. Visitors permit is £35

You should arrive to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Transfers to and from the airport are at your arrangement. I think Taxis can be booked or alternatively a group car hire will be quite cheap.

I am heading up next week, (was supposed to be there today but Fedex had other plans!!) and I will see if I can get some pics of any bucks.

If we get 4 commitments then we can book the dates. Maximum will be 6 rifles.

Rgds,
Kiri

Hi guys,

It looks like if we are going to do this it will have to be the earlier date which is also a bank holiday. I might have to be in the states for the second bank holiday.

Given it is a bank holiday, we could do Friday night to Monday mng if it suits better for less time off work.
