What do I have to do to buy a rifle in Switzerland and bring it back across the border, or ship it to myself.

I should have a Jagdschein in July. So I know that will have to come first.

My question would be, why do you want to do this?

The easiest way is to do it offer a dealer (Büchsenmacher) because most of them have experience with it.

Otherwise you need to go to your local office which is handling gun licenses etc. (Untere Jagdbehörde) It is the same place where you register your firearms once you have your license. There you need to get a "Verbringungsgenehmigung" to import the rifle. On the swiss side you need a permit to be able to buy it plus export papers which someone from Switzerland can help.

However what you need to consider you will need to pay tax for the rifle at least 19%.

So maybe we can help you to find a similar same rifle within Germany.

I have noticed that Heerens are much more common and cheaper in Switzerland. There are a couple of really old ones for less than E600 (sorry I don't have Euro sign on my computer). I want to get several copies so when we get back to America in 5 years I can start building them.

Beyond that I wouldn't bother.

I just spoke to a couple of gunshops in Gebrunden, 200 Swiss Francs, no VAT, plus shipping and whatever a German gunsshop charges to receive it.

I am a few months away from having a Jagschein, but I am going to try and visit Gebrunden this summer and get this going.

I never saw a working Heeren for bargain prices. You get what you pay for and if there is something cheap in Switzerland then there is for sure a reason for it.

Just looking for actions to help me understand the system. Most of the Heerens I have seen on egun have been more than 2000 Euros, and most are 3000-6500 Euros. There are tons of Switzerland for 1500 Euros, quite a few for up to 15,000 Euros, and there are some that are really old for 500 Euros. Saying that 99% of them are Gebrunder 10,3x60R.
