Hi all I am due to receive my first medium bore hunting rifle ina few weeks. It is a wildcat 9.3 WSM. Just wondering what is teh general concensus as to waht 9.3 bullets are available. I know there are 180 grains up to 320 woodleighs. I would appreciate somebody with practical experience so I can narrow it down to 02 one light weight for practice at Bisley and one best for large game overseas. Those who live in the UK will have the same probem I am facing that is no expandable until port of departure. So any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance

LH. Fact is - the home office guidance suggests that 9.3/.375hh is considered suitable for UK usage - against the larger species. http://police.homeoffice.gov.uk/news...s-Guidance.pdf Chapt 13.35 page 75, states clearly that 9.3 may be used in the UK. I provided the FLO with a request for variation to allow domestic use. A letter completed by my outfitter was included. This stating my need to be practiced and familiar with my rifle BEFORE encountering something large, hairy and upset. I also confirmed access to Fallow and Red deer... and Wild Boar. I also provided reference to the specific section within HO Guidance to police 02 that applies. Net result - Rifle good in the UK from mouse to moose. No knowledge of the 9.3, but this may be of assistance in getting to zero & use your baby on UK deer. Hi Londonhunter You can also try my friend Lutz Moeller he makes my 7mm,7.62,9.5 and 458 bullets in Germany. http://www.lima-wiederladetechnik.de/Englisch/English_Rifle_Articles.htm I use a 155 gn copper bullet for hunting with my 375 H+H with 75 gn of reloader 10x get a velocity of 3300 fps but low breach pressure. Fantastic flat shooting. Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

I do not know what your velocity will be but I have had excellent results with the 286 Woodleigh Softs and Solids and the 286 Nosler Partition in my 9,3x74R In your 9,3 WSM the Nosler would probably be best. For an inexpensive bullet try the Speer 270gr. It works perfect in my double at @2400fps for deer and pigs. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Hi Ian thank you for the link very helpful I will draft a letter Monday morning. I also contacted Mr Moeller some time ago and I believe he sells 9.3 head in 12 grams which equates to 180 grain. Will this light weight bullet provide less recoil and will it fragment easily on impact? If I can get away with less recoil that will be great I was informed by a few hunters at Bisley that Ballistic tip by Nosler are fanstatic...?

Hi London I use a 155 gn 9.5 mm bullet which is awsome . Same recoil as a 30-o6 what more could you ask for. Check this link out http://www.lima-wiederladetechnik.de/Englisch/375H+H.htm Ballistic tips by Nosler are good at killing but wreck the carcass and fill it with copper and lead. Favourte calibres 7x64 375 H+H 458 Lott Regards Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

I wonder why the ballistic tips are so bad? They are much harder with thicker jackets over 308 caliber. I have used the 225 gr in my 358s and they are a hard bullet. I haven't tried them on whitetail deer in the 9.3. I am thinking of using the accubond in 9.3X74. I believe that is the style coming out to replace the ballistic tips. I have always welcomed the new and different. Packy

I have used the Nosler accubonds in 9.5mm which are better than the non bonded std ballistic tip but OK is all they are IMHO. More areodynamic then most 9.5mm bullets is their best feature. Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

Thanks I note the change of web link and address I sense you also live in the UK did you have any problems receiving the heads from Germnay since at this point in time I have only solid heads on my licence. Its quite expensive nearly £1 per head. I plan to import 100 9.3mm and 100 6.5mm Just to share a bit more I shoot regularly at Bisley and here is my cabinet Mauser 03 in 222 de lux Custom 6mm BR with Lazzeroni Macmillian stock Fclass open 10 kilogram to be delivered in october in 6.5-284 for 1000 yards Blaser K95 in 6.5 x 55 for Uk stalking 9.3 WSM in custom Howa with Hogue Axiom stock due in a few weeks Scopes are as follows: 6mm BR Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 x 50 Blaser K95 diatal 7.x50 IR 9.3 WSM Swarovski 2-12 ITDS x 50 I will probably buy a cheap chinese scope from Fox firearms since I came across so many good comments about them..............and a nightforce for F-class 1000 yards on Stickledown Thanks Mark How did you work out the powder load for Mr. Moeller's heads i.e. 12 grams copper head in 9.3 WSM case? I anticipate the recoil will not be more than that of a 180 grain 308 eventhough I am pushing it with 79 grains of powder correct? Unchartered terrotory for me...........

HI London Hunter Your senses are correct. It must have been the Worcestershire, England bit that gave me away I lost a wild boar last year due to bad bullet choice so I moved over to Lutz's KJG. £1 per bullet is expensive for plinking at paper but not if your hunting. The bullets are inherently accurate and if you ask Lutz nicely he will give you a recipe that IMHO saves a lot of wasted time with load development. All loads have shot sub 1" first load. For hunting thats all I need. My 375 recoils similar to a 30-06 and my 458 Lott like a 375 H+H. They do not classify under section 5 if you are using them for target shooting. If in doubt have them shipped to your local firearms dealer. Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

Thanks Just spoke to a friend who is a lawyer and he had a look at the home office description. I will aks Lutz to ship the copper head and plastic tip separately since the heads on its own since made of one material can be descibed as solids. .............. Thanks none the less if you are in Bisley do drop me an email

Saw your K95 calibres - what is the 7.x50IR? A 7mm wildcat on the 5.6x50R case? wondered who did the barrel work and which K95 you have? I've got a K95 luxus with American stock and 6.5x57R and 5.6x50R barrels with no sights. Fantastic little gun!

The standard weight bullet for 9.3 is 286 grs. The Nosler Partition will be hard to beat! ALL other´s below that weight are SOFT. For your .366 Accellerated Magnum Express ;-) I would consider the 300 grs Swift A Frame. For stopping at short range also the 320 Woodleigh´s, in Soft and Solid form. I wonder about the lighter Swift A Frame bullet ... 250 grs - lacking in SD, but will hold togehter - mmh, I might try it! Have fun!
