I know Blaser said they were not going to discontinue the R93, but there seems to be much less R93 stuff available anymore.

The website now list just the 3 models Pro, Pro Success and Standard.

I never thought they would continue to produce R93s for so long after the R8 came out.

Anyone have any inside knowledge of how long the R93 has?

I have not been to a gunshop with an R8 yet to do a comparison. At one time I had quite a few R93s, but sold out of them in 2007.

The R8 Success is very sexy!

I hunt with the R93. I also have a 22LR barrel and a 28ga barrel. I use them a great deal.

The R8's only advantage is that it can be [allegedly] had in 458 Lott and 500 Jeffery.
It has a detachable magazine. But it is heavier and bulkier than the R93.

Personally I much prefer the R93.
You can get it in 3 Rimfires up to 416 Remington Mag, including the 28ga barrel.

The R-93 will be the main stay gun for them in Europe.
It will be come very difficult to find new -93 stuff in the US in the very near future .
The R-8 was made for the US market we probably have more hunters buying new guns here than any place in the world. They just generated a market because we like to buy the newest so as long as they make a few changes the market in the US will be strong. Just like cell phones Apple comes out with new phones every couple months just generates the market all over again even though the last model was just as good.
One problem is not sure the present R-93 supplier is very motivated to sell, he orders everything and is very slow filling orders.
So if you want R-93 stuff better get busy buying stuff
Also most R-93 stuff cost more than the R-8 because Blaser flooded the market with bargain kits packages $1000 under retail
I have an ample supply of both 93s and r/8s
Oh well just my observation since I buy and sell bunched of these guns and see what's happening
