Hi all,

I have been having a bit of trouble with my scope recently and not sure if it is me or the kit.

POI is still fine but I find the eye position has to be absolutely spot on otherwise the picture darkens or goes.

When I first started with it I didn't seem to have any issues but now I'm struggling each time especially off of improvised rests.

It's the Swaro Z6i 3-18.

Otherwise i think it is awesome.

Kiri,

The higher magnifcation Swarovski's & Schmidt & Bender's (especially their 3-12x50) all have so-called Critical Eye-Relief.

If your eye is not in the exact same position everytime when the rifle is mounted you get tunnel-effect, a Moon-shaped sliver or the scope appears to go entirely "black".

This can be due to a number of reasons; attempting bizzare shooting postions such as over your shoulder on a Stand, flinching (holding your head further back), net, all kinds of posibilities including a good case of Chubby-Cheeks from weight gain (ask me how I know this?). The mounts may shifted backwards/forwards. The amount of Winter vs. Summer clothing, etc. all affect these critical eye-relief scopes.

Don't know what kind of Rings/Bases (mounts) are on your Boomer but once you realize which direction the scope requires adjustment you'll be back to normal in no time.

Could be something as simple as a touch forward/rearward w/the scope or perhaps a cheek pad to align everything prefect every time.

Cheers,

Number 10

Kiri, also as we discussed, the higher the mag, the tighter the eye relief tolerance gets. Turn the scope back down to 7 or 8 and it will be much less apparent.

I have the same scope, I have to say I find the high mags, lets say 12x and up, unuseable in the field. I only ever use these off the bench.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Have you taken it off the rifle recently?

If so, when you reinstalled it, you did put the big lens at the front??? Wink

Ah, Dolly's back...

Where have you been hiding? That three legged doe I shot yesterday would have been right up your street mate, as she couldn't runn so fast!! Wink

Actually you are not a million miles away on the outcome. The scope mounts came lose in RSA last year so I took the thing apart to clean and reinstall them. It seems that I have not put the scope back on EXACTLY as I should have and so my rifle mount is not quite right for it's position.

Problem is that we are in the thick of things right now and I really need the gun.
