jdollar.

Many shops, restaurants and certainly hotels will accept Euros. But, for change, you will receive Danish kroners.

US$ are not widely accepted at stores and restaurants (hotels the exception) but the exchange rate will be poor is my guess.

This reply only covers the Copenhagen area (where I live). PM me if you need further information. I'd be glad to assist anyway I can.
Kind regards
Jytte

You can use credit cards almost everywhere, not all businesses are used to dealing with Euro, and therefore does not provide a proper Exchange rate, so it is better not to use Dollars or Euro.

But you can exchange Euro to Dkr. in many outdoor Bank machines.

My experience with Denmark was that euros were accepted but they much preferred kroner.

In Greenland ( Danish owned) they hated euro even more and to change to dkr at the bank was the worst exchange rate ive ever seen!

thanks folks. i will be overnighting in Copenhagen, then heading up to the NW coast for a visit. my Copenhagen hotel(The Square) is already paid for and i plan on using my MasterCard a lot so i guess i will just exchange a few dollars for kroner upon arrival. i will also have to exchange dollars for Euros before i head over to Poland in order to pay my trophy fees.

Avoid exchanging currency if at all possible since there is always a significant discount. Most credit card companies will give you the actual exchange rate and only charge you a fee of a buck or two for withdrawing local cash from an ATM, and ATM's are usually much easier to find than a place that trades cash.

What stone creek said. Spend on the card as this is always the best exchange rate unless you have access to market traders.

i always spend everything i possibly can on my M/C just to get the miles. it's easy in the US( literally everyone takes them) but i figured it might be a bit problematic abroad- hence the need for some local cash( plus the euros i will need for trophies in Poland). i think the best idea is to get local cash from an ATM machine in Copenhagen, withdrawn from my checking account here.

On my relatively frequent visits to DK I often never see a kroner as credit/debit cards are so widely used.

About Poland you must in small towns often seek to supermarkets, gas stations or the local bank to withdraw some cash if you want to use debit / credit cards.

Where will you be in Poland, who/which firma has issued your Voucher ?.

In Poland € or $ are not accepted in shops, apart from some big chain stores but the exchange rate is poor so using a credit card is a better option. Credit cards are accepted by a large number of shops and only small shops in villages do not accept them. You should check with Foret-Pol about the currency which they will charge for the tropphy. Usually the price lists are in € and you have to pay in this currency.
If you need any assistance just ask.

Pawel
