Tough Decision To Sell My 260Rem

Hi all,

I've had to make a tough decision on my Custom 260Rem since I went to collect it, and for reasons I will outline below I have decided to sell it.

It is a Lawton Fluted and stainless action barrelled with a stainless Lothar 1-8" twist standard sporter barrel, (19"). Jewel Trigger and Jet-Z Compact Mod. The gun is very well balanced (right between the scope mounts)and shot sub half inch groups with the 3rd or 4th load we tried. It sits in a Laminate stock.

My reason to sell is primarily it seems that my aim to make a light weight mountain/hill rifle has resulted in a somewhat heavier than required gun. Although once handled and compared to several other rifles I didn't feel it was excessively heavy, it just wasn't the extremely light rifle I was hoping to create.

In addition I have made a small mistake in making this a top loader with the given action, so the rifle requires a box magazine to be fitted as the ejection port is smaller than anticipated.

It isn't economical for me to pay to convert this to the gun I want, so I have decided to sell it and start over with a bit more knowledge about what I want to achieve in the project. I think this would be a great gun for someone that does a lot of high seat work or longer range shooting. In this respect, the specs that don't suit my prospective uses may appeal to someone else.

The Gun was made by Steve Kershaw who I believe many of you are familiar with and his full customs retail at £3,500 (or so I have been quoted as I would still probably get him to make my replacememnt gun, as his rifle do seem to shoot very well indeed.) although this is nowhere near what I'm looking for the gun.

I thought I would post here first before I advertise it. It has fired about 20 rounds in load development and that is it.

If anyone is interested please PM me to discuss numbers if you are seriously interested.

Best regards,
Kiri

Good luck with your sale Kiri, I went for a lightweight rifle a few years back now, unlike several friends of mine at times I just love carrying a lightweight shooter.

Mine is a Rem 700 in 7-08 calibre, sporter barrel (18") and Bansner mountain stock and compact moderator. Great little rifle!

Good luck in your quest...
