I would like to go and take my wife. I would be looking for someplace with good hunting and accomodations. Any help would be great!

Ezra,

Several of us Americans have hunted with Mike McCrave, CMS Hunting. I especially recommend Mike if you are taking your wife, as his hunts are geared to entertain the non-hunting spouse with guided tours of the Highlands for the ladies while the men hunt.

Ezra,

Much of the Highland Stag stalking is very similar, apart from the Terrain. You should gear your hunt location depending on the ammount of work you wish to do for your stag, and also if you would like to add on any other species such as Sika or Roe.

Getting a day to look about and visit the House Of Bruar is very nice, just beware of your credit card limit!! Wink

There is a great sporting art gallery there that is worth the trip if you enjoy such things.

Flights to ~Inverness are painless with an internal connection and if you fly into London you can easily have a couple of days ere and visit some of the gunmakers or take in some Fallow/Roe Woodland Stalking.

When are you pllanning on coming over?

Just another suggestion, though I imagine there are as many suggestions as there are people on the board:

http://www.amhuinnsuidhe.com/

I've never stalked at Amhuinnsuidhe but have fished there and it is a most amazing place.

In early January I posted, including pictures, about some hind stalking:

https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5421043/m/358109197

This is somewhat more exposed and rough ground than that GAHunter stalked on and the walking is probably a little harder, we probably managed 20 miles in the 2 days. That isn't Amhuinnsuidhe ground but the hills in the background in North Harris are.

Hopefully that helps if only to give you some ideas of what else is available.

I stalked in Blair Atholl (Forest Lodge) for several years and can highly recommend it.

Has anyone heard of or had any experience with a place called 'Corrour trust" or Mr. Niall Rowantree? I met him yesterday at the 'Wild und Hund" show in Dortmund Germany, and I was interested in what he had to offer as far as hunting "stalking" I think it's called there, in Scotland, in Inverness shire.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything good or bad about the place.

A good place to go I'm told. It's a BIG estate, they say it's worth going to.

Bravo, James. It's old Charlie alright. In our party of 5-8 and for several years, I was always appointed to hunt with him. The other hunters couldn't accept his bullying and follow his pace. As a matter of fact, Charlie and me had lots of arguments in the beginning, that is until, after one of our arguments, he challenged me to a shooting contest and I outshot him with rifle and combat handgun. He was really impressed and from then on I was elevated to the status of human being and we became buddies on the spot. As a former SAS instructor, he was one tough guy and -while I may have shot better- he learned me a lot about stalking and stag hunting.

I've not stalked with Charlie but have heard all the stories like many on this board. However I have stalked with his son Bob and he was a joy to be out with. He loves his deer and is really good company.

There is a cottage accross the way from his keepers house and there is some roe stalking and fishing to be had for those that are interested.

Plenty of sites to visit too
