Hind stalking January '09

Hello All,

I hope some of you may be able to help me.

I'd like to get some recommendations as to reputable people to approach for three days stalking in mid January.

Having not been out on the hinds for about three years, some advice as to daily charges would be a great help. I have been quoted £300 plus vat per day with no bag limit (Sutherland) by a stalker who comes highly recommended, and sounds like a really nice bloke too. Last time I was charged £90 plus vat, although i think that was 'mates rates'.
Does it REALLY cost £300 a day now? I'm just a poor courier, not Al Fayed! I always thought hinds were affordable sport for mere mortals, not the super-rich!

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Eric.

Eric,
that is expensive for hinds! I believe that Arran estate charge £150 a day with no limits,
try:
Winston Churchill Stalking at Glen Masson.
Forest Estate, Dalry, Castle Douglas.

It looks like things are getting more expensive, Arran was £150 with no limits last year but they have put their prices up and now want £210 +VAT for 2 hinds, additional ones charged at £35 +VAT.
Glen Lyon want £130 +VAT a day.

£300 is too expencive for hinds, tell them to stick it up their arse!!! Even the £140+vat I paid last year was too deer, but it was all I could get last year. If your not conected, you'll need a deep pockets!!! Usual crap of it's who you know, not what you know....

Thanks everyone!

James, you couldn't perhaps PM me (eric@emavor.wanadoo.co.uk) with contact details of your £140 outings? That's way better than anything else I've seen.

Graham Christie (Dunmohr Sporting) is offering £180 a day, but I don't know what he's like. Anyone care to offer an opinion. He operates out of Kingussie.

Eric.
