Thought I would ask here first before asking on another site (any suggestions on which one?)

I am considering buying a Bansner replacement stock from Brownells, and also a Zeiss Conquest scope from one of the US exporters, to make use of the favourable exchange rate at the moment.

My question is has anybody done this and what are the logistics of it all? Any suggestions on reputable scope companies over the water, is it right that the Zeiss guarantee will not be valied over here if things go wrong?

Anybody have experience of the bansner stocks, the right ups seem great, I intend putting one on a Remington 700 7mm-08. Only used McMillan in the past but expenses have soared since I purchased might years ago....

Cheers

You could try http://www.midwayusa.com for mcmillan stocks and optics or http://www.wilddogaustralia.com for a synthetic stock with an ammo storage area in the buttstock,I spoke to the aussie rep at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this past Feb and we rapped a bit about special full auto shooting ranges in Vegas ,he said he was heading for one after the show.

For scopes you can tryBearbasin, I and several other people I know bought there, good prices&service.

Regarding the stock I fear that this is a gun part and requires an export licence from the US government, Brownell's do it but I remember there is either a minimum order volume or it costs some money plus of course time.

The rest is easy, you pay with your credit card and either have the merchandise shipped to your home and custom's fee and VAT charged by the parcel service or you pick it up at your local custom's office. Be warned, at least in germany their knowledge of "rifle parts" is sometimes low...

Nightwalker.

Before you go down the road of import have you tried to contact either Andrew Hendrick at Riflecraft or Steve Bowers at Specialist Rifle Services. l believe Riflecraft pull a lot of pss units to bits and they may well have other stocks on hand.

Regards.

Dave.
