At least for small game, it has! On our hunting concession we managed to harvest about one red partridge per hectare (1166 partridges in 1200 hectares), - 4 partridges per hunting day/per hunter - which is really very good considering the fact that the birds are 100% wild and native (none have been introduced into the area). And now that the small game season is finished I will concentrate on the big game! So far I have been to only three wild boar driven hunts (montarias) with meagre results from my side: just one wild boar! But starting next Saturday I will be hunting those piggys every weekend and they better watch out! Until the end of February there will be “montarias†almost every day and I intend to attend to as many as possible! And starting March: “wild boar by moonlightâ€! My favourite! If any of you happen to be coming this way, let me know and I will be happy to assist you. There are wild boar driven hunts to accommodate each and every pocket: from almost nothing (like €25) up to a lot (€500). And, if one or two of our AR members, that had never had the chance to shoot wild partridge, happen to be interested in giving it a try I will be more than happy to invite them next season (October/November 2007) to join me on a hunt. Hello Bernardino, good to hear that your shotgun season was a good one. Those wild swine you can still get lateron. Over here, they seem to be close to extinct in some areas. We had a very long, first cold than wet winter with no acorns which killed most piglets. Also the high hunting pressure over the last years (agriculture damages are expensive) took it's toll. This year there were tons of acorns everywhere and the pigs are quite fat. Hopefully that helps the population to recover a little. Roedeer hunting has been fine, next week we'll be off for deercamp in Finland.

b.martins, it has been a good season also for me. I hunt only wild boars, my hunting equipe hunts only in not free areas, where free means that there are not fences and the animal are free to run away without obstacles, my phisical situation is not at the best because I suffer for the consequences of a crash when I was eighteen, but I bagged however 3 boars, two big and one young. They could be more than 3, because I had lost two good occasions, but considering all the factors above, it is a good number. Now I have to wait 6 month before I can hunt again, I should go to Namibia, and 9 month before I can hunt again here in Italy ......... it will be a long time to wait thenext hunt bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

Stefano, In Portugal we can hunt wild boar by moonlight all year round and in "montaria" from October to February. There are almost no fenced areas for wild boar. They are all free roaming. This year we notice that there aren't as many wild boars as last year. I don't know why as there is plenty of food (acorns, mais, barley, etc..). When are you going to Namibia and where to? I have been there twice and I am "nourishing" the idea of going back soon. Regards B.Martins What every gun needs, apart from calibre, is a good shot and hunter behind it. - José Pardal

I should be there on 25th of June spending 10 days hunting a 10 days for touring and visiting the country. I bought a package of 8 animals, the areas are: Khomas for a pair of days, a day or two in Mariental area, and the rest of the hunt is in the Kalahari. I already did this hunts, but I bought tha pack to save the hunt to a friend, but if anyone is interested I can resell the package and make the trip as translator and spare hunter . An armed observer and photographer ... Happy New Near bye Stefano Waidmannsheil
