Sweden bans lead bullets

I read in our country's largest gun industry magizine that Sweden banned ammo that shoots lead bullets. Is this true? We have Barnes triple shock bullets here that are a copper alloy bullet that has no lead. If this is true, and other countries follow, this could be one of the biggest changes in shooting in many years. Considering that since firearms were invented, lead has been the main metal that makes up bullets.

The ban is not until 2008. And hopefully our politicians will come to their senses (if any) before that.

I think the Anties have been very cute for pushing for a lead ban...Such a ban could be more far reaching than you think. You may just find that your Forestry Companyies are not too thrilled about having non lead bullets embeded in their tree's as they go through their saw mills ect.

in swedish hunting magasins and on swedish forums its goeing on a diskusion on this topic.
Swedish goverment has decided that they should ban lead in hunting or shoting at most ranges, the cause of why they has decided that is that they are thinking "lead is bad for nature" and those horribel hunters are going out in or beautyful forrests and kill inosant animals whit lead and of course ther most be alot of lead left in the woods, this must we stop!

According to some sciantist who recently has ben studying lead that has bean spread a round in nature, lead in solid form like rifle bullets does not have eny notable damaging efekt on nature. But is the goverment ripping up the ban? Nops they are not and they probebly never wil becouse that would be admiting they has done wrong.

The best thing for you good people in
Sweden to do is FIRE your government and re-elect one that supports outdoor sports. The only thing polititians understand is power and you folks have to show them that you gave the power to ruin their lives if they make poor or unrational decisions. I wish all of you the best of luck on this issue. derf

Over here, the US has held the national rifle championships at Camp Perry, Ohio, for about 90 years. All the bullets--probably dozens of times more tons per year than all the hunters in Sweden shoot at game--go into Lake Erie. All these bullets are lead with copper jackets. The EPA has studied and measured toxicity and found absloutely no effect on the environment.

Indy; I heard the same thing about the Remington range. Tons of shot into salt water several hundred feet deep and they still caved in to the Anti's. derf
